    Hill climber

The packs of analog riders doing 20 - 30 mph on the same roads lm riding also giving bicyclists a bad rap? Just checking. If analog riders don't like it or drivers miscalculate their really high speed moves, they are just going to have to change , over time drivers will adjust as more of us take...

    Hill climber

Getting up the hill is fine, but getting up the hill at the same speed as riding on flats is a different thing. If I really want feel it, I ride my 500w hub bike can only manage 15mph up most hills and less than 10 up the steep sections back to my house. Need to get there and back in a tight...

    Magura front brake shudder

Had pretty bad chatter on my Hydra with generic brakes where you can see the bottom of the shock vibrate when braking. Resolved after changing pads

Hello From Lexington, MA Riese and Müller Homage HS and Superdelite Mountain both with Rohloff E14 Rider

The first picture I showed is from right behind where you live. I'm about 1 mile from you. I rode mtb in the 90s then got an entry level ebike in the spring 2021 that wasn't trail worthy and saw all the trails I was riding past. Been riding Watt Wagons Hydra since this April. Usually have time...

Hello From Lexington, MA Riese and Müller Homage HS and Superdelite Mountain both with Rohloff E14 Rider

What's up from Waltham. I hit up Beaver Brook every once in a while, I take the Western Greenway trail from the Waltham high school - some tight singletrack with rocky climbs are a challenge in spots. Whipple hill in Lex has some nice climbs too. One of my favorite local trails starts on Hayden...

Bafang Ultra Owners - Does Your Battery Remaining Percentage Jump Around Under Load?

My ultra with archon x1 doesn't jump around too much after it gets down to about 87%. But I would use the first 10% in the first mile if it wasn't mostly downhill - after initial blowoff seems more accurate depending on my use. 50% feels like the same juice as 99/100%😉. My 500 watt bafang hub...

Schwalbe Johnny Watts (and other Schwalbe SUV tyres) User Club

JW are perfectly fine for roots and rock gardens and great on hard pack and pavement, The only terrain they are really not good in is loose gravel.

1500 miles with JW on my Hydra and the back tread is starting to show signs of wear. Probably should rotate them but I'm pretty lazy when it comes to that stuff and probably just wait it out and replace when necessary.

    Luna X2 Impressions (Hydra Comparison)

I like the lightness but not the loudness. Was surprised how quiet my Hydra with x1 is. At low speed/cadence it's as quiet as my 500w hub bike - when you're spinning the cranks, it's a bit louder. On paved path/road the tires make more noise than the motor - my perspective from the saddle anyway.

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

This checks out. I followed off the back of a pack of middle aged roadies on nice road bikes the other day just to see what pace they ride at. 20-25mph on undulating terrain- 35mph downhill. I had to put my Hydra in Eco 2 to keep up.

    Massachusetts ebike legislation

Better off keeping the motorized bicycle laws currently on the books -ambiguity is currently working in our favor. Only thing these laws really gets us is ability to ride non-adjacent bike paths. Would rather they keep the $25 fine as written for breaking the regs they aren't enforcing. The new...

    Hydra occasional power loss

I think I've had similar issue in Eco 1 at low speeds and higher gears - I had issues with the brake cutoff sticking, but this seems different - more like it's not detecting any torque, but if you downshift and spin the cranks fast or put it in Eco 2 it seems to get things going again. I just...

    Disappointment with Allant 7

When I was looking for an emtb I had to reject all big name brands due to weight limitations and only 20mph assist. I'm over 250lbs and ride the roads to get to the trails. I always assumed they were solid climbers on trail though with focus on torque vs speed. Curious now to try some to...

    Class sticker?

My S604 Colt sold as a class 2 but I unlocked it from the display so it can give class 3 level assist. So the question is, is the class of your bike based on potential of the bike or its current settings? And how is a top speed display setting different than the top speeding setting for the pas...

does 35-40mph throttle only 30 mile range under $5k exist

I agree, no one needs a throttle even hub motor ebikes. But are nice to have and for the less experienced can be considered a safety device. On my high powered mid drive I use it pretty much only for low speed applications like mounting the bike, u-turns, getting over a rocky section where you...

does 35-40mph throttle only 30 mile range under $5k exist

Watt Wagons is based in Newton MA and is making quality ebikes. Take a look at Hydra black. I discovered this place after buying an entry level ebike and was looking for someone local to repair it, and after seeing the quality parts they were using on their bikes, I bought one. Best purchase I...

Signs just put up on my home town bike path.

No where on the rules/regulations placard does it say no bikes. -- I've been wondering how many home owners that live near these trails are just buying and putting up their own signs. I ve seen homemade 🚳 signs put up and I've seen attempts at hiding trail entrances with landscaping that border...

Signs just put up on my home town bike path.

Just noticed some new 🚳 signs put up at the parking area for a trail I've been riding all season. They put them at the hiker entrances but they aren't visible from the bike entrance at the side of the parking lot and none at the other access points on other roads. I ride to the trails...

Riding Clothes - In Praise of Clown Suits

After 30+ years of riding a bike I finally broke down and bought some padded shorts. Riding a emtb on rocky/rooty trails is a little like riding a bucking bronco at times which can lead to some less than desirable seat positions.
