Which model of brake are you using and what kind of riding are you mostly doing? I hope that my E725 ones are not high maintenance. I will rarely get them wet but they will see mostly gravel rail trails usage. Can be fairly dusty in the summer.

If the lever is firm then it sounds like the pads are toasted. You likely simply overheated them to the point of no return. At least new pads are not too expensive. There is one other possibility however, you say you sanded the rotor? If it's too rough now than the pads might be skimming along...

No worries, if you want to take it apart they link to the service manual in that document as well(under lubrication I think). I recommend the proper grease for this, it will prolong the life of all the seals. I like slick honey, bet there are others too.

I am wondering if you have an adjustment issue with your hub maybe. With a 55t front, 22t rear and 1.9 overdrive that should translate into 55/11ish gearing. That should allow a good 30 plus at 115 cadence. I am assuming you have the Ananda/ Enviolo drivetrain.
