No reviews of the Maxima chain wax which is a bummer because I swear by the stuff. With this you can wax your chain w/o removing it and it doesn't attract dirt. I use the motorcycle forumla but see they also have a bicycle specific product as well...

I use Maxima Chain Wax in an aerosol can. It's made for motorcycle chains, goes on wet and then dries quickly to a parrafin like surface. It's quite thick. If the battery indeed got shorted, yes... I'd want a new battery although I've had momentary lipo shorts with RC packs with no damage, or no damage that I was able to see, or measure in capacity or internal resistance

The top of the line Yamaha e-bikes are very expensive IMO.. I'd love to have their full suspension mtn. bike but not paying 5,600 USD for one. That being said, I'm sure the quality is high..
