Why are Brooks Saddles known for comfort?

Well I've ordered/will be trying their B67 'softened'/'aged' which they claim is 'comfortable from Day 1.' I'm sure there's some trade-off in longevity/durability in the leather used for these 'aged' versions, but realistically my riding/biking is such that I don't need maximum...

Why are Brooks Saddles known for comfort?

Any of you Brooks riders use/hear of speeding the break-in process by soaking the saddle in warm water for 5 minutes or so and then riding until dry? Here's the typical approach; this guy's method is a bit more involved. This was a popular way of breaking in heavy leather boots during my Boy...

Raising the handlebar on a '19 Vado 3.0

Absolutely. If you have a bike (e or otherwise) that checks all/most of your boxes, and there are no alternatives available, then obviously you have no choice but to go down this road if you aren't satisfied with the "original" riding position. I'm just saying that for many people, making this...

Raising the handlebar on a '19 Vado 3.0

This thread has got me thinking/reading more about some recent modifications to my stem/handlebar of my 26" fat bike over the past two years. My most recent change involved replacing the handlebar. Although the specs on the bar appeared similar to the one it replaced (needed to replace the...

Hello! Just read your posts on a thread about the Brooks saddles. You posted a pic with a Brooks Flyer (?) on your fat bike. Looks great...what color is that that you ordered? Thanks! Colin

Raising the handlebar on a '19 Vado 3.0

Good replies here. Bottom-line it takes a lot of experimentation--and perhaps buying/trying a couple different pieces like those highlighted here--to achieve a good "fit." Just make sure you crank your handlebar/cockpit hard right and hard left during the "fitting" process to make sure your...

Improving BBSHD chainline: 42T Lekkie or Eclipse?

Hey thanks Thomas, I appreciate all this information! An eBiker over at ES said I should also consider whether I really need/use those smallest cogs, and if not move them behind the largest ones as 'spacers' to improve the chainline towards those largest ones. Obviously would need to adjust...

Improving BBSHD chainline: 42T Lekkie or Eclipse?

I'd like to improve the chainline on my BBSHD fat bike. Attached photos will show my current setup with the Eclipse 36T ring. I'm not throwing the chain, but shifting is rough and certainly there's chain wear when I'm in the larger rear cogs of my Sunrace CSMS8 11-46. I have the 120mm BBSHD and...

    Why do people hate cyclists?

These threads are always interesting/informative to read. I think social psychology has more to say about this than anything particular to cyclists versus motorists, etc. Humans evolved in tribal circumstances, and too many people still self-identify in tribal terms. Tribalism creates...

*SOLD* FS: Lightly used Batt-Man digital dashboard amp hour fuel display/gauge

    * SOLD * Used about 2 months; works perfectly and screen protector still in place. I just don't find myself using/needing the amp-hour information like I thought I would. I've wired in XT 90s (anti-spark) connectors/pigtails that I'll leave "as is"; obviously these can be removed/replaced...

Enlighten me on some of these intricacies - seeking the expertise of knowledgeable folks here!

Former lawyer here. JRA has nailed it. This is simply not a priority....be thankful it isn't (yet). What changes these 'under-the-radar' situations is some kind of high-profile accident/event that triggers a regulatory/law enforcement response--usually a bad/excessive one.

How do you use e-power on your e-bike?

As others have pointed out, how much "e" and how much "bike" really depends on your individual riding conditions/needs and your personal preferences, and you have many options. Being a newbie myself with only about 6 mos of ebiking under my belt, I wish I had informed myself more about this...

    Nested Fat tires

I've never heard of this, but I'm hardly a fat bike expert. What I can say is that my fat bike rides are through areas full of prickly pear cactus and puncture vine/goatheads; I'll get dozens of punctures on a typical ride. I've run tubeless for several years now (currently 26" x 4.8" Schwalbe...

    Killer Slopes

Hey Pharroh--thanks for your posts on this thread. I'd like to hear a little more about your tire experiences. I've got a BBSHD converted fat bike running Jumbo Jims 4.8". A pretty good tire all-around, but always on the lookout for better options. Most of my riding is trail and off-trail...

Holding your pants and your battery...

That's obviously more secure than this arrangement. Fortunately not many people where I ride (off-road/off-grid) and I doubt even if they found the bike they would think of even stealing the battery...not many ebikes in my neck of the woods. I'm also working out whether it is better/easier to...

Holding your pants and your battery...

I'm sure I'm not the first to use a belt to secure a frame-mounted battery, but thought I would share this one which seems to work well. This is the belt off Amazon. The thing I like about it is that it has just the right amount of elastic "stretch" to be cinched up nice and tight, and the...

    Road Rage

Agree with Al P. In my younger days I've been more confrontational with this kind of behavior--it's hard not to react that way when you encounter these people. But big picture it just isn't worth the risk. Pulling out your phone (or wearing a gopro helmetcam) is tempting to be able to share...

    Kickstand

I have the same kickstand as you. Mine also broke; basically you could no longer use that button to adjust the length and the "tip" would just fall off. I used some epoxy and glued it for the length I usually kept it at. 'No longer adjustable, but has held up. This is a valuable thread...
