I can’t argue with what your preferences are. I don’t disagree with what you say. From my point of view is that I’m not dragging 60 lbs of gear around. I’ve got my Nikon D800 with a 24-120 f/4 lens that is going to give me images that my iPhone can’t. Couple that with this manfrotto super clamp...

There is a risk to it, for sure. I’m not on a mountain bike though. The terrain I’m on is mostly paved. Which will also include automobiles that are certainly a threat. But for the most part I’m riding in areas that are parks or backroads that are pretty safe. I have debated a new compact...

I understand your sentiment but with a battery powered bike I feel just the opposite. My bike will allow me to get to places and be my mule all in one. BTW, nice pics.

I agree that the iPhone has come a long way but I only have a 7 with the one wide angle lens. When I’ve come across wildlife it leaves me wanting more. Also, I hate portraits with wide angle lenses. The gear load is a pain and I don’t think I’m going to chance carting my 300mm f/2.8 with 2x...

I don’t know. It was set to aperture mode and bracketed for 3 shots, then merged in Lightroom. The main exposure was in the 1/60th range. I’m not at my computer right now and can’t see the originals.

Who wants to drag a tripod around? Not me. Luckily I remembered that I had a manfrotto super clamp from my photography hobby. Attach the camera and clamp it to the handlebars and the bike is a tripod. Put the kickstand down and the handlebars aren’t level so that takes some maneuvering to level...

I haven’t posted a ride lately because I’ve just been doing mostly neighborhood rides with not much to photograph. Got out today and hit some parks and a greenway. The first pic after the map is to show my new rack and trunk bag that I got last week. Decided the trunk bag suited my needs...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

I ended up going to REI and getting a Topeak beamrack bike rack and a Topeak trunk bag. The bike rack mounts to the seat post and for what I’m wanting it for the trunk bag fits my purpose better then a pannier would. It’s almost like a camera bag that attaches to a rack.

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

I don’t doubt that it works for you but maybe since you’re carrying bottles you’re being more careful in transport then I’ll be. I’m not picking up fragile cargo and heading home. I go out on a ride and don’t want to have to be worried about anything. I understand your point though and...

    Alternative rack for Allant+ 8

Interesting post. I went to a bike shop today to buy some panniers and was talked out of it because they didn’t like the "rack" that comes already on the bike. I have an 8s and they thought it was just a bracket for the fender. If you look at it that way I’d agree with them. It’s got a little...

    Intro and New to Ebikes

Hi Mike from Mike in Tennessee. Welcome to the forum. Glad you’re enjoying your new bike. Removing the fenders is a cool look. Looks like a big bad MTB. I bought an 8s back in June and love it. Enjoy your ride.

Today I got out again with great weather for riding. Temps in the mid 80’s and dew point in the 50’s which is rare in Nashville in August. Went out with the plan of going out to the gravel rode that was so muddy the other day. Started out going through town to the park I love riding in. It has...

It’s been hot lately so I haven’t been riding any. Got out yesterday with temps in the mid 70’s. The temps cooled off after some weather passed through and dumped a bunch of rain in the area. So the route that I took would have gone down a gravel road but it was mud so I turned back and went...

Not to be alarmist but thought you ought to be aware of this. It’s in the news tonight that they had a boat run aground and get stuck. No injuries or anything but an inconvenience for the passengers. Came to mind about your post when I saw the story on the news. Here a link to the news story on...

The Original Bell on Your Trek

I’ve never really considered replacing it. It’s served its purpose. I’ve only had it for a month now and it’s the first bell I’ve had on a bike since I was a kiddo. Mostly use it with pedestrians on greenways. At 63 yrs it seems most fellow bikers are passing me these days.

    What’s this?

Thanks for your answers. Glad it’s not anything important. I need to take the bike in for inspection and will see if they have a replacement.

I haven’t been to Memphis in years and haven’t been to downtown Nashville in quite a while either but they sure do attract the crowds. Nashville is more than just country music but that is our biggest recognition. The cruise sounds great. Have fun!

    Allant - Bosch Smartphone Hub

For securing my phone in the holder I have this tether that I’ve had from another holder. I have an iPhone 7 that is in an otterbox case. I take the outer rubber part of the case off and the phone is in the plastic case and fits tightly in the COBI.Bike holder. Then I tether it in on the corners...

    What’s this?

The screw on the front is missing on my 8s and I don’t know what it’s for. I’m talking about the screw down just above the fender.
