Ride Report for Falco Emotor Bike

SQN, You may not ride at 28mph, but it is VERY nice to have the ability to get there IF you want to. There will always be situations and opportunities where more speed is wanted and appropriate. Cruising 20-25mph is more relaxed, gets more range, still allows human assist via gears, and is a...

    I Bought a Voltbike Yukon

I agree that the package is pretty tight. Two potential issues (for old guys) is 1. ) the aggressive position with no adjustment to the stem angle, and 2). The battery/control interference. #1 can be fixed, but cost $. #2 should not be a big issue to remove the battery or plug in directly.

Greg- Congrats! I wonder, how many $2900 bikes are being equipped with high end FOX forks? These forks can retain from $500-750. Enjoy!

    Questions for Jim?

Thanks for the feedback Grench and congrats on the new Opti. Those Fox forks are very sweet. Let's hope Optibike can get the PAS integrated before Winter is out so people have a change to order and get one before late summer 2016. Also, a good time for Court to re-visit and test that PAS...

The Route: 193 to 450, then all the way to Annapolis? How are the shoulders size? Road trash on shoulders?

Nitro City as a commuter bike

Ravi, Did you buy this bike new? Renting? Testing? I checked out Court's review. He rates it as a class 3 speed pedelec. But, this bike also has a throttle. Does the throttle cut out at 20mph or go full power and 28mph with the throttle? thanks for the trip report. Dan

Is there an eBike that will allow me to maintain 28mph?

Court J, Correct, current law says any assist over 20mph is no longer in the ebike class considered equal to a bicycle. What boggles my mind is that most ebike riders who pedal a 250W-350W bike for 1-2 years are then ready to get MORE power, like 500W-750W. Why is that? 350W on the flats...

Throwback Thursday - 2005 Giant Lite

I ran across this old link yesterday detailing my first electric bike (2006-2008). A Giant Lite, with a Panasonic 250W MD, 6.5Ahr, 24V, NiMH battery (25mi range) Not too many OEMs with mid drives back then, nor with something besides Lead acid. Giant Lite, electric assisted bike $1,299.00...

    What would Court Ride?

Hey Court, You get to ride EVERYTHING! However, if you were one of us, an interested consumer, what bike would you buy, right now, if you had.... $2000? $4000? $6000? $8000? Preference is subjective, but just asking for personal thoughts.

    New BBS Middrive!

From the ES forum on the BB02 and 750W: Re: New Bafang Crank-Drives (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)by sather » Fri Sep 04, 2015 10:43 am I hope Bafang redesigns the mechanical parts of the new 1000 watt instead of just reusing the old BBS01 design. The 750 watt BBS02 uses the same mickey...

    Back to Square One

Someone once said, "performance, quality, low cost, pick two". From reading this thread, it appears performance wise, you want: 750-1000W, 28mph, PAS Aggressive position lighter bike ~ under 55 lbs smooth ride and good torque for hills. Zippy acceleration $5k or less OEM, not a kit. Correct...

    The Speed Free-for-All

Yes, we all have different views and opinions about the limits, and we just have to agree to disagree. To segregate the ebike community into separate forums is counterproductive. We are ALL riding ebikes. Ebike classification if for legal and market delineations. In the end, these bikes...

    I Bought a Voltbike Yukon

I got it for my son at college. He has practices 2x a day, a mile from his dorm... spoiled! I was looking at the RAD bike and SSR fat bikes. I wanted a geared hub. RAD has the metal gears, which are noisier but should be a bit more rugged. One guy didn't like the Rad forks, so no loss...

    The Speed Free-for-All

Vern, What do you think about a bike that can do 28mph as PAS OR with throttle override? Should that be class 3 too? I agree with your point about being fit and a 20mph limit is an issue if you are trying to cover some ground. Big picture: Most uninformed people think ebikes are about...
