    The cheap ebike. Take 2.

Schwalbe Marathon tires are pretty flat proof. They have an extra anti-puncture layer and are expensive touring tires. I use them on my commuter bikes.

Is it too soon to clean the new chain grease off?

It probably won't make much difference either way to the chain life. If the dirt is bothering you, then clean it. MTA: I would at least wipe the dirt off with a rag and add an oil based lube every 100 miles or so. If you are switching to a dry or wax based lube, you should clean it first.

How likely is a bike like Gocycle will get stolen in London

You can lock up a folding bike outside, and I have done that many times. It is going to attract more attention than that old beater next to it. I have a folding Abus lock on my Brompton for that purpose and have locked it up when running into an ice cream shop or store where I couldn't bring it...

How likely is a bike like Gocycle will get stolen in London

I am not sure about the Gocycle, but I have a Brompton and I always bring it into restaurants. It fits next to or under the table and no one has ever given me a problem about it. Locking a bike up outside a movie theater is problematic because thieves will know you are going to be gone for a...

    Gravel Class 3

That helps some, but may not be what the OP is looking for. My Surly LHT would fit that description, but it is sold as a touring bike. It is one of my favorite bikes though.

That does take a lot of the confusion out of it. 😄

    Gravel Class 3

What makes a gravel bike a gravel bike? Wider tires and flared drop bars? I think that most people on this forum don't have experience with gravel bikes, but I could be wrong. It might help to give a little more info on what you are looking for. The 700c wheels helps. The Diamondback Union 1...

    Have you tried cowboy coffee?

It sounds like a big investment. You have to buy the cowboy hat, boots, and pot. I am not sure that I could pull off that accent either.

You bought from someone else… now you expect the reseller you didn’t purchase from to support you!

I agree, but the professionals willing to work on a DIY ebike are few and far between. It is a chicken and egg problem, but I believe that we need more ebike mechanics/technicians if we want to grow the ebike market. Not that I am willing to go into that business...

Buying a chain - all you need to know?

I think the "narrow" designation is a holdover from the 5 and 6 speed days. Any 7 speed chain should work, although I think Campy freewheels have a bit narrower spacing than Shimano or SRAM.

You bought from someone else… now you expect the reseller you didn’t purchase from to support you!

I try to treat all customers equally well, but some customers are more equal than others. That is way it works for most businesses. That and some lines of business are hard to deal with and are not very profitable in the long run, so you need to get out of that business and focus on what makes...

    Interchangeable Twist Throttle Grips?

I don't see how that would work. The diameter of the throttle will be larger than the Ergon grips are designed for even if you strip the rubber grip off as you stated. I have the GP1 grips and they won't stretch like that. There is a metal clamp on the end that designed to secure the grip to a...

    Shipping Delays Summer 2021

Amazon doesn't charge my card until the item ships. They will authorize the amount in advance though. On eBay you have to pay upfront. I have Amazon Prime and rarely get stuff in two days anymore and never the next day. It definitely has gone downhill.

    drive chain replacement

You will also need stuff to clean up the cogs and and chainring. It is a bit messy, but wearing disposable gloves and putting a plastic tarp underneath can make cleanup easier. I use paint thinner, which can be reused, but a degreaser like Simple Green will work also as long as you dry...

I guess you do have legs like tree trunks.

Wow, Nakto turned out to be junk, so what should I get?

I think you have that backwards? 110 is a smaller diameter than 130. However, Luna sells an adapter for 130 BCD chainrings for Bafang motors. There are probably other sources for it too. https://lunacycle.com/luna-bbshd-130bcd-spider-chainring-adapter/

Wow, Nakto turned out to be junk, so what should I get?

42 tooth chainrings and even smaller are pretty standard on mountain bikes and other 1X setups. If you have a double or triple in the front, then you can have a 52 tooth big ring. However, with only a 52 upfront, even with a 42 tooth dishplate in the back your lowest gear will be 37 gear inches...

Wow, Nakto turned out to be junk, so what should I get?

Well, I have a box full of parts I that bought for various bike projects that never found their way onto the bike because I changed my mind after buying them. Some of them will eventually get used for another project. There are good reasons for choosing a mid-drive, mostly carrying a lot of...
