Known Issues & Problems with Bosch Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I am actually having my local shop try a warranty claim for the exact same thing on my Haibike. Corrosion and deformation on the plus terminal of my battery. When I carefully clean them off and bend them in I can make it better but it usually comes back after a while. I get the same occasional...

Clattering sound on Bosch Performance Speed

After 5000 miles on the original sprocket there is a good chance the noise may be due to it being worn out. It is good that you changed your chain regularly, I did it too late and my sprocket and cassette were worn out to the point of slipping under load after 1500 miles. Yes, the original...

Almost a year of commuting on the XDuro Trekking RX

So I got my 2016 XDuro Trekking RX in February and have commuted on it almost every day since. As you can see below, I just crossed the 5000 mile mark and, weather permitting, I will hit 6k when 2019 rolls around. This was my first e-bike after decades of commuting and recreational riding on...

Creating a new accessory for e-bikes - win $300 for taking our survey

Check the disclosures, it is Smart Halo. They make a gadget that supposedly turns any bike into a "smart bike".

Where to buy SDURO Trekking 4.0 (or should I wait for 2019 models?)

I have the PearTune MSO on my bike and installed it on two other bikes for friends. The maker himself sells them on Ebay for about $150, depending on what system it is for. Comes with very easy to follow instructions and the guy is extremely responsive to questions.

    crankset problem.

I worked as a mechanic in a bike store for many years and I can tell you one of the most feared service calls is "sound from the cranks/bottom bracket" because it can have so many causes. Can you specify the type of sound and when it occurs? Sound that appears to come from down there can be from...

Different setting after firmware update. Sport vs. eMTB.

The eMTB mode did not work for me either so I asked my LBS to change it. They actually let me watch and it was super easy. When my bike was connected to the computer, there was a dropdown box with several options and one of them was "Sport". He simply chose that one and clicked "go" and that was...

    What's your mileage? (I hit 4900mi on 12-31-18) 1yr, 5mo. 9 days

Similar to Alaskan. Started riding this bike in February and have 4320 miles as of this morning.

    GoPro Style Safety Camera Reccos...

It really all depends on what your purpose is. For me, and I believe the OP, it is about having a cheap tool to record everyday traffic situations to have a handle should something go wrong. My $50 camera does that just fine and I have always been able to grab frames where I can read the plate...

    GoPro Style Safety Camera Reccos...

I use this one for the exact same purpose. Lots of accessories and mounting options and the image and sound quality is excellent. Batteries last about 70-90 minutes. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078ZCWPWQ

Anyone have experience de-restricting class 1 bike?

Another vote for the PearTune MSO. My bike is technically a 20mph with a Bosch CX drive - not anymore. I actually bought it because I knew I'd chip it so didn't care what the actual restriction was. Very easy and straightforward install and it comes with good instructions. Activate by "walk"...

Survey for those with higher mileage (2000+) ebikes

If you don't need skills and tools to fix it I don't consider it a repair. Swapping a battery requires neither. But I am thankful for warranty coverage (though I don't have a decision yet) and even more thankful to my LBS for running the claim even though I didn't buy the bike from them. I...

Survey for those with higher mileage (2000+) ebikes

I just broke 4000 miles on my Haibike but other than replacing chain, cassette, sprocket and brake pads have not had to do any repairs. I am a trained bike mechanic so I do all my own stunts. I do have a warranty claim in with my LBS for an issue with the contacts on my battery. But that doesn't...

Is anybody using eco mode (lowest assist level) on your usual bike ride? What is your usual assist level?

Just over 4000 miles on my Bosch CX (chipped) for commuting. Most of the time I am in Tour mode, which allows me to cruise around 22-25mph on the flats. I only go into Sport mode up some hills or when I want to really crank (> 30mph) but having only the 400Wh battery pack I need to be careful or...

    Hello from Stuttgart, Germany

Hello (or Hallole) and welcome to the forum! I know Stuttgart well because I grew up in Ehningen, just outside of Boeblingen. I can imagine that the ebike comes in handy with all those hills.

Looking for tips for transporting laptop

My backpack has a special compartment for the laptop (in an extra sleeve) but I wear it on the back, so it would be vertical as well. But even if you placed it flat on the rear rack you should be OK. It was my understanding that when the laptop is closed and asleep, the disk goes into sleep, the...

Looking for tips for transporting laptop

If you have a solid state drive this is a complete non-issue and even with a conventional hard disk there shouldn't be a problem unless you have the thing running and get some massive bumps. I commute with laptops in my pannier or backpack for more than 10 years now and never had a problem.
