    eBike side cars?

Good spot @FlatSix911, those look to be Scandinavian Side Bike Sidecar's caught in the wild. I looked into these for sandy beach missions for our little furry friends, and for bigger family-sized grocery hauling...I think it was EUR1,400 or so for the fiberglass, and EUR2,000 for the carbon...

About to take the Lectric leap. Man vs step thru

The Lectric XP Step Thru is a plush beast and works for any gender. For me the crank axis geometry, being a little further back than on our Qualisports Dolphin, makes it feels more "cruisey" than sporty.

    Accessories for your XP

Yes, @Dex the Juiced horn/alarm has a bump-sensing accelerometer that will blast up to 2000 times on full charge at 118dBA or until the meddling stops. It's loud. I had a $12 Amazon alarm zipped under the seat, which did something similar, also very loud, but it was less robust and experienced...

For those with a 3d printer, and some PLA, here's an open source *.stl file for a thumb throttle. Uses M3x8mm allen/hex nut and bolt. ...and a few other ones on thingaverse.

Thanks @ki11a! I tried zipping through the motorhome decals with a 3M stripe-off wheel disk but discovered it's a much bigger job because they are buried under a clear coat. The heat of the friction was just yellowing the paint. I eventually masked it up and repainted. It isn't perfect, but...

Yes...loud AF. The Boomerang also has a decent alarm while texting me that someone is meddling with the bike. Just need to figure a more permanent mounting spot. Might drill and pull a pair of M5 rivnuts, just trying to see where that would work best - out of the way, and without looking too...

Perhaps a useful tool for bike shop owners that won't be able to easily fit today's ebike frames into their analogue bike stands. Hobbyists can always reserve their $25 and look around their home for normal household props: two rolled up beach towels, a couple phonebooks, yoga blocks, barbells...

Motorcycle tires on the stock XP rims?

We got a set of Whitewall Vee speedsters a few months ago from Enki Cycles' Accessories Shop. Looks like they are sold out right now, but have a restock notice list if that helps anyone. They really dress up the bike.

Bike shops use >70% isopropyl alcohol for grips on/off - lubes while wet, then evaporates, leaving everything snug as it should be.

Rad Power just got $150m from investors. What will they do with it?

@Asher for what it's worth, it mightn't be advisable to dismiss this collective of super-star billionaire backers, and their accompanying industries of family office savvy, especially when it comes to battery AI patents and IP wherewithal.

Rad Power just got $150m from investors. What will they do with it?

Degradation of li-ion batteries into finite recharge life-cycles, and with slow charging times, might just be due to how we are re-charging them now by plugging a "dumb" adapter into a wall socket. There are companies using AI to evolve the battery conditioning side of the recharge equation...

Magnesium-hydrogen slurry claims 10 times the energy density of lithium batteries, with fast refueling

Very cool @legsofbeer. Lithium-ion has had a 20 year run, but the energy density to environmental cost is way out of whack. There are a whole bunch of cleaner/cheaper alternative mediums for capacitation that have been under development for years, some still not quite ready for prime time...

Rad Power just got $150m from investors. What will they do with it?

Concurrently, Mr. Bezos has stepped down as CEO at Amazon to apply more of his time into Blue Origin and his colossal $10Bln Bezos Earth Fund. With all that pent-up environmental capital, we should expect some monumental disruptions in many comfortable sectors. Rivian has also delivered the...

    Battery during winter

I'd bring the seat post (and any other battery-powered shed items) inside, the rest can stay put. Laptop battery cells can swell with extreme temperature shifts and humidity changes (from condensation)...think of this as a giant laptop battery. I'd want to slowly warm up to room temp, ideally...

Seat / Saddle advice or opinions.... ?

Golly, say howdily-doo to congenial Ike Godsey from all of us! Didn't think there were many surviving physical general merchandise stores in 2021. Lucky you! In any case, my butt sensor needs <5 minutes to reach its pass-fail consumer verdict, or we can rebox and Prime it back to a more...

I really like my Brooks C17, but my next ebike might be retrofitted with the new ebike-ready C67. It's a wider and more upright Cambium rubber-cotton design.

New ebikes coming from Greg LeMond

"Maglia rosa" or "Mallot Rose" is the jersey color worn by the overall points leader jersey in the Giro d'Italia. It's "the one that got away" for LeMond. Pink was chosen in 1931 because La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the newspaper that created the series, was printed on pink paper. Yellow "Mallot...
