Ebike won't move with throttle, just chatters and pulses

My neighbor's throttle quit working. The diagnoses from the bike company was that he was throttling too much. He had it on constantly on hot days going up some steep grades for several miles. Guess it wasn't built for that. I think they sent him replacement parts with a suggestion to pedal more.

What mode do you ride in and why?

I guess Tour mostly on my Gazelle. I live in a valley. I use Turbo to get up one of the hills as quickly as possible as car traffic is a problem on it and the road has no shoulder. Turbo is also used on other steeper places that I ride. Sport on not as steep hills and Tour on slight grades...

Keeping it Legal for the Common Good, Staying Within the Legal Classes

Yup just a "gal" in the office working on one of them un maintained roads thinking "don't drop the saw." That's a bridge. Here's the office. Now, a real world story on the gutting of the FS. When I first started working on a district in Western WA, there were 5 ranger districts. That was...

Keeping it Legal for the Common Good, Staying Within the Legal Classes

If you are talking about the feds, there are books out there on the history. For instance, the upper part of Wisconsin was homesteaded early on, homesteaders could not make a living as the land was poor and left. The Forest Service took it on. It was called The Land Nobody Wanted and was...

Riding Clothes - In Praise of Clown Suits

My old Bell helmet was getting, well, old and I'd dropped it on concrete a few times, and motorists seem to be grumpier so I replaced the Bell with Lemonhead. Yup, it's warmer and heavier but seems to do the trick which is a good thing as I must really share the road. The powers that be chip...

2022 top 10 most bike-friendly cities in the world

I have a conspiracy theory about such lists. The following is my theory. It is not fact. Lists are made by real estate agents and investors. One example is Outside magazine. They will make lists of Most ---------towns and that helps bring folks to those towns to buy property. People hate...

Charging Ebikes on EV Charging stations

Yup. Until then we do have stealth locations, although the bums and druggies are getting those locked up too.

Charging Ebikes on EV Charging stations

One thing to note is that the station needs to collect money to pay for construction and maintenance. That would be an add on to the electricity value. So it would be more than 20 cents. Think retail price.

What’s causing all the ebike and escooter battery fires?

Search can be your friend. This has been discussed before. However, I'll bite as I can cut and paste. There is discussion of new regulations in the future. This item is from a Gazelle page. What does the regulatory future of the ebike look like? As responsible Gazelle owners we support a...

    folding pedals

Sometimes they get bumped and fold up while you are pushing the bike, or when you get off and you don't notice it until you go to take off. That's what happens to me and the Radmini.

    Solar Powered Homes

I'm a Debby Downer. I can't see the people in the USA pulling together for anything. We have masters of spin who have developed a cult. Sad times.

    Solar Powered Homes

That war time effort in the 1940s has left some horrendous pollution problems. We have the Hanford area in our state. Can we have speed with caution?

    Lake Superior North Shore

I lived in Washburn for a couple of years. I find myself thinking of moving back, but I would, and did, miss seeing the mountains. Chequamegon Bay is a bit warmer, but I got called crazy for soaking in it on hot days. I grew up swimming in glacier fed lakes here in Washington so might be...

Loose chippings used on road repairs

Guess what? It looks like my plan to use my bike to run errands is over for at least a few days. Took off to get groceries and encountered the dreaded freshly done chip seal. The gravel was uneven--deep in spots so going had to be very slow. Meanwhile, cars and the dumptrucks were whizzing...

Loose chippings used on road repairs

It is very common here. We call it Chip Seal. It keeps the windshield repair/replacement folks busy. I avoid riding on it until it all has either been flung off or is swept off the road. I don't want to get hit by it. Many years ago, I was trying to commute to work on my acooustic bike...

I am spoiled when it comes to corn. My mom always planted a good sized garden and always grew sweet corn. There is a big difference between sweet corn and feed corn (for animals). The sweet corn must be cooked within a couple hours of being picked for the best taste. The longer corn is...

Just saw this. The Green side is pretty darn expensive right now. Heck, even here would be too expensive if I hadn't already purchased a house. Even----Aberdeen/Hoquiamo_Oo_O is spendy, even in places prone to flooding. Believe me, I've been looking. There is a place in Wisconsin, but...

Kettle Corn is popcorn with a delicious sugary sweet coating on it. It's very good when cooked well. Some places seem to burn it. You can buy microwave kettle corn but it isn't as good as the festival made stuff. We have a local movie theater that survived Covid by selling different...
