Are white reflectors required on wheels

You can buy 25 foot rolls of peal and stick DOT reflective tape. My yellow one ran out after four years. I need to get another. My new helmet with a bright head light on top that can flash is matt black. I want to get some reflective yellow stripes on it. In the US the Consumer Product Safety...

    Whizzbang Treat Alert W/Video

Hey, why is it that you can sing in your car but if you do on a bike people think you are nuts? I personally like to be in the real game and not looking down at a screen.

    Show Us a Tool

I use old tubes as tiedowns. I slice them long ways at about 15mm. On many you can go around twice for length. Then I give them away to customers who need to carry their boxes of goodies, owner's manuals, chargers... They are so easy to tie securely. For big items use an X to self stabilize the...

    Show Us a Tool

@PCeBiker, I purchased a box of Crayola oil pastels for this purpose. Folding tires are the worst at wobble. I spin them and mark left and right for high spots, make adjustments, then use another color to track progress. It takes at least three tries and makes a world of difference. Then I use...

    Just for fun...

The funny thing is 35 years-ago today the Berlin Wall fell. It was justified to keep bad elements out. It was really to keep people in. Russia and its sphere was and is bad. It was a time for dancing. Now many in the US will flee to Mexico even if they need to dismantle sections of a wall to not...

@Chargeride, I was only really worried when I heard the sirens coming. Then the helicopters directly over head. I though that they finally found me.

    Electric Bike vs. Regular Bike

I get both high winds and big hills. Today the winds are from the firestorm direction. If you want to check the wind in your area, go to windy.com.

    Just for fun...

November Fifth was a wild day in my town. A guy accused of a domestic problem was spotted at a place where patrician displays are not allowed and then a pull-over was attempted by a Sherriff in a unincorporated area. He drove his SUV into town at high speed, smashing cars. All the cops went...

Level 2 - Torque Sensor Question

I really tested an Aventon Abound SR today. It has been out for less than one week. It is a hub-drive with a torque/cadence sensor. The mapping is wonderful for a $2200 cargo bike. At a light high cadence it takes off when then pedal pressure is added into the mix without lag.

Level 2 - Torque Sensor Question

Some R1Up bikes such as the Portola use watts instead of strain. It is a torque simulator that is Okay for most. I am not fully sure but think that it is all in the bottom bracket. Bafang lunched it in 2022. And it has been refined since. An Aventon Level 2 failed today reverting to a purely...

    Velotric warranty

@Seventysomething, What is the model of the bike? I work for a Velotric dealer. Their response is impressive. Some brands will not respond to a call, such as CyberBike which we have repletely called on a dud bike.

New Aventon Abound 'SR' Short Rack, Cargo

There was a problem with one today. The rear rotor rubbed against the post mount. I had to add a washer to the non drive side and spread the dropouts. It is a great bike for the money. I would like to up the top speed and will look into how.

Level 2 - Torque Sensor Question

@salaryman, I took one up a five story parking garage this morning to do the test. For a test you will want to run at extremes. A) At power level 5 I ran it in first gear at a cadence of 100 with very low pedal pressure, but some. The Level 2 ran fast and smooth. That was the cadence sensor...

Level 2 - Torque Sensor Question

@salaryman, They do not talk about it because that would confuse average consumers. Yes, it has both. I sell and work on these bikes everyday. Did you try pedaling at high speed in a low gear with almost no pedal pressure? I will do it today. Oh, the sale on these bikes today is amazing.

    Shifting Gears

The Best Way to see where your relationship is headed is to ride a tandem. You learn fast. The pedals better be set with the first chain to synchronize with the second. Or, you are not effed for life with that riding partner. To be effed or to not be effed, that is the question with tandems...

    Shifting Gears

It is usually the derailleur hanger that gets bent in shipping on about 1 out of every 10 bikes. That is when you use the Derailleur Hanger Adjustment Gage (DAG), a frame adjustment gauge is different.

    Shifting Gears

That happens all the time when a young and eager person does assembly. They put a tool on the shift zip ties and lock then down. Then the cable binds causing lag. The B may also need adjustment so more teeth are engaged. I agree with taking it to a local shop that knows how to use a DHAG.

Daily commuter and rail trail rider

@Moto Doula, Set price aside for a test ride. Try a Tero X. It is a do it all bike that is light weight, mid-drive, and can do mountain trails as well as having a rack and fenders. Having a motor that pulls chain through the shiftable gears is so much better than having a motor that is one speed.

Level 2 - Torque Sensor Question

The Level 2 has both torque and cadence sensors. The very best bikes 'like' a high cadence. Like a sports car you down shift to accelerate then rev it up before upshifting. Try the experiment of pedaling at high speed in a low gear at full power. The experience will be very different than a Rad.
