I've checked the pads, sanded them down, sanded the rotors, cleaned both with alcohol. The pads look ok when I take them out to clean them. The rotors don't have any discoloration from excessive heat. So if its not the rotor, then maybe the Shimano MT520 calipers aren't up to the task.

@fooferdoggie did the shop say anything about compatibility between the 35mm inner rim width and the 2.0” tire? I just ordered the same ones to try it out but am now seeing that 2.0” is on the edge of compatibility for a rim that wide.
