Spring is finally arriving in southwestern Ontario, Canada. Cool weather most days yet, with some sunshine and warmth thrown in. Today I stopped to help some mates launch their sailboat. Mine doesn’t go in until May 29th in another town up the coast. Not an ebike, but I have been refurbishing...

More comfortable saddle for Trek Verve+3

I had the same problem when I got my Verve + 3, having not ridden a bike at all for years. I initially put a plusher seat on that I had at home, then went back to the original Boulevard model before long, once my butt got used to riding again. I find it a really good saddle. I have added a...

Help setting up woodshop in basement. Any electricians here?

Thanks, yes the air comes through the door or in warmer weather, the window. I wanted to also keep the window free to be able to bring lumber in through it.

Help setting up woodshop in basement. Any electricians here?

I have a wood workshop set up in my basement (Sketch attached). Although I do have an outside window in it, the dust collection is internal. Each machine is connected to a central dust collection unit (both it and the 8” jointer require 220 volt power supply). An air cleaner fan is also pretty...

Redshift ShockStop seatpost and stem installed

I have attached a side photo of the installation on my Verve. I have found the stem to be quite effective at absorbing bumps and particularly, vibration that made my hands numb much faster with the original stem. You can feel the stem flexing while riding; not significantly but noticeably. The...

Redshift ShockStop seatpost and stem installed

Sorry, you are right. I did purchase that metal cap when I got the spacer set from Trek (had to buy a set to get the one I needed). It doesn’t come with the ShockStop.

Redshift ShockStop seatpost and stem installed

No additional parts were needed. I have probably added more than 2500 km since making this change, and it has been flawless Ron.65

Trek Verve + 2 chain is constantly slipping.

It is (was) the same guard on mine. I now have just a guard ring. I don’t think there is a chain guard/corrector anywhere in my setup, they must have used a different basic setup. The original guard will come off with just the pedal removed; it will bend it slightly but most owners just discard...

Trek Verve + 2 chain is constantly slipping.

Hasn’t happened in over 6500 km on my Verve +3 either. The chain has come off a couple of times due to a stick lodged in the system, but with the OEM chain guard removed, it’s a quick fix.

New Ebikes for first time buyers for Seniors

Best of luck with your purchases. I don’t think you can go wrong with the Allants. Trek is very reliable. As a 66 year old short person, I will never regret going with a low-step bike.

35 km ride today, we have beautiful warm 20º C weather for much of this week! Lake Huron is quickly losing its ice.

Where did you get your ebike?

2020 Verve + 3 purchased from Trek dealer early July. Now has over 6000 km.

Nearing completion of the new “pub sign” I am carving and painting for my garden shed. Looking forward to sharing a beer with friends on the deck there.

I am still on the original brake pads on my Trek Verve + 3 at over 6000 km.

Are you going to ride in snow?

Finally back out on the bike today. Most roads and trails are clear, and Lake Huron is melting. My shoulder held up pretty well, the exercise was good I think.

Very sorry for your loss Stefan.

Are you going to ride in snow?

Yes, I got off lucky. Still a really sore shoulder, like a pulled muscle, and a couple of minor bruises. On the mend but off the bike still, it hurts to put my arm forward like riding. I keep forgetting my age.

Are you going to ride in snow?

I find the Marathon GT 365 tires are good in 4 or 5” of fresh snow, and on packed snow. Snow that has settled and is heavy/slushy or rutted is more problematic. Directional stability really suffers. So I tend to avoid just about anything but fresh or smooth packed snow. And ice, must avoid ice...
