Took an old railway line trail from Goderich, Ontario on Lake Huron, 13 km inland and back. Nice ride.

    Redshift ShockStop "Full Suspension" Review

My rubber retainer broke as well, but the cover stayed attached. I replaced the retainer with a thin rubber o-ring from a plumbing source… I think that’s likely what the original is. Just have to take the seat off to install the new one.

    Trek Pedal Recall

I would rather I never heard of it than have to deal with this annoyance for $26.

    Trek Pedal Recall

I sent this note to my local Trek store an hour ago: “Pedal recall: Just want to register my annoyance with your shop. I dropped in today with a pair of Circuit City pedals which have been recalled. I have already replaced them on my Verve + 3 (which I bought there just over a year ago) with a...

    Redshift ShockStop "Full Suspension" Review

Glad you are enjoying the Redshift stem and seatpost Stefan. I now have a working “conventional” dual suspension bike, vintage around 2000 that I have rehabilitated. I agree that while the FS bike is good on rough terrain, the Redshift equipped bike compares very favourably to it on all but the...

I use this Park chain checker and replace the chain when it shows .50 wear. I have changed the cassette once through 3 chains at 7500 km, but that was partly due to going from the original 11-36 cassette to an 11-46 one for lower gearing on hills. You may have to replace the cassette when you do...

New activities taken up during COVID-19

This is easily the simplest, best bread recipe out there… I use variations on it 3 or 4 times a week… no bread machine, stand mixer or kneading required. https://leitesculinaria.com/99521/recipes-jim-laheys-no-knead-bread.html

New activities taken up during COVID-19

Looks lovely Buckdubay! I have been making either a farmer’s white bread or 25% whole wheat… either way, just flour, water, salt and yeast (Jim Lahey, New York baker’s famous no-knead recipe). In addition I have been making smaller loaves of raisin walnut bread with the above ingredients plus...

Anybody else a bit reluctant to ride their eBike in the rain?

Have ridden in rain and wet snow, no issues.

    One year, 7500 km

I ride mostly with full assist, 30 to 40 km per day when I am out. I have another dual suspension “analogue” bike, much lighter, that I ride if I want more exercise now. I usually top up the battery after every ride at the usual mileage, as it would not likely last for two rides.

    One year, 7500 km

Yes, 7500 km in the year I have owned it. The only parts I have replaced are the rear cassette once, chain twice and the derailleur/hanger once due to a stick destroying the original. I have the parts to service the disc brakes but not needed yet… I live in a fairly flat area. As to how long the...

    One year, 7500 km

Yesterday I received a message from Trek that my Verve +3 is one year old (since my purchase). It has been a great bike with modifications I have made to make it more adapted to trail riding as well as road. Today I am assembling a garage workbench to go with the new Park PCS 10.2...

New activities taken up during COVID-19

The table is beautifully done. Is it cherry? I have also been woodworking (finished painting my carved pub sign) and baking bread during the pandemic. Both rewarding exercises! But I didn’t build my own bench… just added twin screw end vice, Tucker vice, rear tray and shelf under.

    Brake Pads

My Trek has just over 7000 km on it now, and last trip to my dealer I needed to get a replacement for a broken derailleur hanger. I got an extra one for security. I also got replacement brake pads although I don’t quite need them yet. Glad I did. The technician said they were having sporadic...
