    Firmware update for charging limit

It's not the owners. The firmware has been buggy, and some people don't have the latest updates.

    Firmware update for charging limit

Is this for a Vado, not the Vado SL? If so, new firmware was released in February to fix the 80% limit charging bug. The charging bug and the display resetting issue seem related. See post #99 for more detail.

    Firmware update for charging limit

Well, if it's any solace, I paid my LBS $30 for my Vado update in January, but my latest update was free. Perhaps because I told them the last update had bugs, and they could clearly see in the release notes that Specialized was patching those bugs.

    Firmware update for charging limit

I can't blame you, it's total bait and switch.

    Firmware update for charging limit

There's a new display, and motor update available as of Feb 6, 2024 for Vado. It's supposed to fix the display resetting issue. I only found out because my LBS checked for updates, by plugging in my bike. My bike was having technical issues.

    Firmware update for charging limit

Does anyone know why we have to keep taking our bikes into the shop for firmware upgrades? Aren't these bikes supposed to be able to receive over-the-air updates from home? I can't think of one firmware update I've been able to do at home.

    Firmware update for charging limit

I say take it back to the shop, something isn't right. My 2022 Vado 4.0 was updated to the latest firmware, I verified with the old Mission Control app, and the 80% charge limit feature has been working well. However, I noticed my riding statistics (miles, calories, etc) on the bike's display...

Should I buy a Vado SL, or Wait for the Release of the Version with the 1.2 Motor?

If you want a great deal, buy now. If you want the latest, and don’t mind paying more, wait.

My 2022 Turbo Vado 4 Review.

Cool, you probably got the Vado 5.0 IGH version. I've heard of some people having issues with the IGH system, and others have no problem. The reviews seem great on the Specialized site, so there's that. Either way, I'm sure Specialized with take care of you. Worst case, you can downgrade to a...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Any idea how much it costs on average to replace or service the Vado motor?

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Right, so no one knows how long the latest Vado generation motors will last. I'm talking about second generation Vado (2022 - Present).

What year, and model bike do you have?

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

Your Vado 2020 Vado is last generation and has a totally different motor. It doesn’t compare to mine.

My 2022 Turbo Vado 4 Review.

Additional torque is always helpful with a load, especially when going uphill. I find the 4.0 is plenty for me, but I don't carry a load. You'd get about 28% more torque with the 5.0 vs the 4.0, which is not insignificant. 90 nm vs 70 nm. 5.0 is about $1k off right now, so I recommend that for...

I could smell my Vado motor about to fail

My 2022 Turbo Vado 4.0 EQ has been super reliable. 3,800 miles with no issues. I'll hit 2 years this October.

Turbo Vado 5.0: IGH or chain?

I never use Smart Control, I prefer to have full manual control during my ride. Maybe I should try it one day.

Has anyone ridden both a Vado 4.0 and a Vado 5.0 and can compare?

By the way, the Vado bikes are like $1,000 off right now on the Specialized site! The time to buy is NOW!!!

Turbo Vado 4.0 2022; Error 513, Full Power Loss

I don’t know, I’d say give it some time before you dismiss it. The error didn’t come out of thin air. If you go a month or two with no issues, then perhaps it was a false positive.
