WTB Extra Battery Raleigh Redux IE, Tamland IE

My limited understanding of battery rebuilding is that if the battery management system is intact, only the cells need to be replaced and it's not like you need special cells for whatever ebike brand battery it is (Yamaha, Bosch, BMZ...). If you send HiC or other rebuilders the original case...

Did you send it to HiC? How much did it cost to rebuild the battery?

Zen Samurai - Built in Canada - shipping since June 2022

Excellent! It sounds like ZEN's ready to support its customers... the lifetime frame is something I'd emphasize, as well. I am aware of Bosch, Shimano and Brose's 2 year warranties, as well as Yamaha's 3 year coverage. I believe that Specialized and Giant, who use Brose and Yamaha systems...

Zen Samurai - Built in Canada - shipping since June 2022

I don't intend to harp on the warranty details, but I think it's important to many potential buyers. The way the homepage currently appears, "3 Year Warranty" is the only info given, and it only appears with the Shakti "bullet points." This could be interpreted to mean that the warranty...

Zen Samurai - Built in Canada - shipping since June 2022

Awesome! Might be good to get the warranty details up soon - it's one of the first pages I read when looking at consumer-direct bike sites. FWIW your About Us page is VERY impressive!

Zen Samurai - Built in Canada - shipping since June 2022

Astounding initial offering, Ravi! The Samurai is the best commuter/trekking bike I've seen below $5k. And I bet you could break your own record with it, too  At some point I read something about ZEN's amazing 3 year warranty, but can't find anything on the site about it. Can you clarify...

This is amazing - designed and built for long days of riding by a guy who's been there and done that.

    No More Yamaha-Powered Haibikes?

Impressive, Mike - not just the mileage, but the luggage... wow! My first Haibike was a 2015 Xduro rx29, which I got in 2015 from the area rep after inquiring about becoming a Haibike/iZip dealer. 18 months later, I sold it to fund my second Haibike, a 2015 FS RX. That bike's still going...

Giant E Bike Motor Official Maintenance?

Ebike Motor Repair (EMR) is in fact the USA partner of Performance Line Bearings, which is now called Ebike Motor Centre. This past Summer, I also had a noisy (Bosch) motor issue, but with no loss in performance. Using my rarely good sense caution, I sent it to EMR - no bearing or gear issues...

    No More Yamaha-Powered Haibikes?

I missed the FullSeven w/PW_ST! Asleep at the handlebar... or keyboard/monitor, in this case  Good catch! While I think it's good that Haibike has moved away from consumer-direct sales, one trend I've seen is that they're going after motorsports dealers. They must've run into brick walls...

Giant E Bike Motor Official Maintenance?

What tammin said! Seriously, I was typing up some of the same sentiments to add... What I'll add now is that removing and reinstalling motors is a moderately skilled job, unlike taking motors apart, cleaning and inspecting their innards, and reassembling them. I've removed Bosch, Brose and...

Giant E Bike Motor Official Maintenance?

This fascinates me. The only "mainstream" ebike motor company (Bosch, Yamaha, Brose etc.) I've heard of suggesting "regular" motor maintenance is Brose, who suggest changing their drive belts around 10k miles or so. Or it coulda been 10km, I don't recall exactly. But I just checked Brose's...

    No More Yamaha-Powered Haibikes?

JW if anyone knows if Haibike will bring Yamaha-powered ebikes back to the US market, and if not, why? Their 2022 offerings are severely limited to a handful of Bosch-powered models, especially compared to years past! I can understand this, given supply chain and shipping woes, plus Haibike's...

    Adding a throttle

The Big 4 "mainstream" motors - Bosch, Brose, Shimano, Yamaha - are all designed for pedal assist use only. A crafty electrician/engineer MIGHT be able to find a way to add a throttle to them, but given the cost of replacing those motors if things went south, I wouldn't try it...

    What Size Kit!

A photograph or make/model of the trike would help. If it's a 20" fat tire (3 to 4 inches wide), a typical 20" front-wheel ebike kit may not fit such wide tires. They usually come with rims under 30mm wide, and fat tires need 50+
