    Which is better?

It's been my experience that anything mechanical that folds up, will fold up when it isn't supposed to.

Another update with my battery shut-off problem

I agree. I use lights with internal batteries to avoid unnecessary drain on the bike battery. They can be recharged via the bike USB port if necessary. They also remove from the bike and are handy as a flashlight should I have a breakdown at night.

    Li-Ion observation

Quality e-bike batteries, used on most "high end" bikes, have thermal protection built into the BMS. Cheap batteries may or may not have this protection.

    Making my own ebike if....

    I did the unthinkable.....

I do too Stefan. I also wish the biking infrastructure were as good here in the US.

    I did the unthinkable.....

If I lived in Europe, or rode with a group, I would dress like the others. Sadly, I'm in the US, and mostly ride alone in places that don't see many bikers.

    I did the unthinkable.....

I don't like the funny looks I get when I stop at a bar for a beer while wearing bibs. Instead, I use padded underwear and cargo shorts. I also like the large pockets to carry wallet, keys smartphone, etc. Leaving these items on the bike is asking for trouble should the bike get stolen.

Anyone know where to find a screw on helmet mirror?

Hard to believe the helmet maker would say "no adhesives" but allow screw holes.

    Show Us a Tool

I have these installed on all my e-bikes. They work well for powering automotive type devices, like some GPS units. Be aware of the output wattage though, they are easy to overload.

Smiles and waves from pedestrians we pass

Good policy! The only thing I add is "Thank You" when they move over to let me pass.

Anyone know where to find a screw on helmet mirror?

Not a screw on, but it attaches to the outside of the helmet with self stick pads or zip ties. I use Velcro on mine so it will break away if I catch it on a branch, hit something, or take a spill. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003LVHZ4O/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I need help finding a replacement display for my Pedego City Commuter 28' Classic with 48v 15ah battery.

    Which is better?

I'm a bit reluctant to use fold ups. I've had a few instances in my riding years where the rigid pedal prevented an ankle injury during a spill. IMO, pop offs would be a better choice.

I've been to that beach several times and that kit has always been there. Anyone could just take it, but this is Cape Cod, where shark attacks are very real and taken seriously. I think people who go to that beach realize that kit could save their life, as the sign says. For the most part...

Battery percentage/bars on display only update after bike powered off and back on

These are indeed good gauges for those who prefer an analog readout, and they are available for 36 & 48V systems. For 52V bikes, a 510 ohm resistor needs to be wired in series with the gauge to make it read correctly. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QK8VRZX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1...
