    Vacation planning with E-Bikes

If you have specific trails you like, post details and I'll add them to my "favorite" list: https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/my-favorite-bike-trails-in-the-northeastern-us.30919/ Another consideration when travelling with an e-bike is where you can charge. Some hotels now ban in...

    Thanks Jeremy McCreary

I've had the same problem with motors on my coal stove. They can also be >$300 each. In my case, I was able to separate the motors from the mechanisms they power, and find a generic replacement on line for MUCH less. Many stove makers use "standard" motors which can be sourced elsewhere...

Power hub to power multiple devices

I'm not sure what you are trying to power from your e-bike battery but many of us use DC buck converters, such as this one, to get 12V from a 36 to 60V e-bike battery...

The ebike gods have smiled on me — the water heater gods, yes and no.

Yeah, tank type water heaters are an accident waiting to happen. I converted from a tankless coil oil burner system to a heat pump tank unit last year. That way, I don't have to run the oil burner year round. I know it's only a matter of time before it springs a leak, so I use one of these...

Guys who ride step through bikes...

We used to have a Chinese restaurant in town called the Fu King Kitchen. 😁 It caused quite a stir and the name was changed to the Peking Garden.

    Add a motor to Hemiway?

Not all cellular providers offer this service yet. Best to check yours before depending on it.

    Add a motor to Hemiway?

I have many of the same concerns and they were a major part of my decision to get a hub drive bike. I ride in some remote places and in addition to AAA and a cell phone, I also subscribe to Inreach. It's a satellite based emergency texting service with global coverage.

Are white reflectors required on wheels

Interesting. PA doesn't require those over 21 to wear a motorcycle helmet but you have to have reflectors on your bike. Go figure.

Are white reflectors required on wheels

I don't see a law in my state that requires spoke reflectors. Two of my bikes have mag wheels with no way to install them. The LBS where I bought them, installed tires with reflective side walls but I don't know if it's required by law.

Lost the key for my Juiced Ebike

I'm afraid I can't offer any first hand advice but others who have lost keys reported some success by taking the bike to a locksmith. It may be possible for him to make a key. At the very least, he should be able to pick the lock so you can remove the battery. Once off, it may be possible to...

    Electric Bike vs. Regular Bike

Nice to see this year-old thread revived. I'm in exactly the same situation except in my case, slope, instead of headwind, is my nemesis. I live in the Appalachian mountains and there isn't much flat land around here. Many of the trails I ride have a considerable elevation gain and like...

Please stop charging ebike batteries overnight!

Using a timer with any lithium battery charger is always a good idea. I prefer mechanical over electronic timers since they are less likely to malfunction from AC power surges, blips or outages.

Black vinyl tape will work just as well.

Ideas needed: Mount downtube battery with a twist

Nice clean look! I would wrap the hose clamps with black vinyl tape rather than use a Sharpie. There is also this product for a more refined look: https://www.divegearexpress.com/dgx-cylinder-clamp-sheathing-only?srsltid=AfmBOopjr2aHXzeiaun1_af-sGVE3Jr5OP8AStcedcMTh2mfjiV4zwo7 The steel...

Right To Repair/Modify, Who Owns Your Bike?

I won't buy anything I can't cobble on. Doing so can void a warranty though.

    Garmin Questions

Many Garmin GPS receivers work on internal rechargeable batteries but can also be powered from a USB port. The USB port will also recharge the batteries while in use. I have several Garmin units but I much prefer the Montana 700i. It's mostly a handheld model and not specifically a biking...

    Best ebike repair stand

I have the Park PCS-10.2. Looks the same as the 10.3 and I'm not sure of the difference. My only complaint with the PSC 10.2 is the setup time. It often takes more time to set up and put away than it does to fix something simple on the bike. I much prefer the PRS-4W...
