Ordering online: Hoping the Retül size tool is accurate

I think the seller still does something to sell the bike because Spec will not sell as many bikes online in areas where no dealers exist since most folks realize eventually they will need service. And what's a 'Tier 1' Spec LBS? What are the criteria?

Terrible paint used on $8,000 Specialized bike and no customer support

My VadoSL paint hasn't had any issues. I'm pretty careful though. Can you attach a picture Elkman? And - don't go to the manufacturer like you stated (curious what they said though). Go to the LBS. They may be more reasonable.

    Noob - Creo question

Here's another way to think about it. Let's say I have a standard bike with a round chainring. And, on that bike, it takes me 100 pedal strokes to go from point A to B. OK - now I switch to an oval chainring, and thanks to the greater efficiency, it now only takes 99 pedal stokes to go from A...

    Noob - Creo question

OK - my thought on oblong chain rings has to do with the position of the leg in relation to the pedals. At certain points of the rotation, we're able to transfer power more efficiently. The oval shape 'smooths' this power transfer out making the distribution of power more efficient/equal...

    Specialized Creo SL Frame Protection

I can't help thinking that wrapping my bike just protects the paint for the next owner. And with eBikes having a lot shorter shelf-life than bikes - I think it's even less important. Still - I'm glad these wraps are available for folks who want to use them.

Sorry - question about support level

Might sound like a strange reason but I've kept my Turbo Mode ratio at full tilt. I refer to it as 'Dog' mode and use it accordingly. The ability to go full-tilt in seconds provides me opportunities to ride my SL in places I would never ride with a bike.

Abus Granit Xplus 540 U-lock experiences?

In keeping with the security topic of this thread, I don't have a lock but added an Apple Airtag to my bike - under the water bottle holder. Hoping I'll have enough time to track my bike down if stolen. :)

Direct to consumer-bypass the local bike shop? This will become a long thread

It's a new world. Folks out there will research the purchase of a new bike completely online and never even ride the one they buy. They'll just be happy it only took a click to arrive at their door and is ready to ride in front of a friend's house. :)

    Vado SL 5.1 GQ, a 27.5/650b “Gravel-Queen”

Beautiful machine - nice setup with the dropper and like the bars too. Love the color/paint. Is that a bell on your bars? Can't tell but don't think it's light. And I see you're concerned with chain slap given your electric tape wrap of the chainstay. Engaging the little, gray 'clutch' on...

Direct to consumer-bypass the local bike shop? This will become a long thread

Does anyone know how new bikes arrive to the Specialized dealer under the current plan? Does the LBS get parts and do the assembly at the shop or is it mostly assembled already? I have to say my VadoSL was put together perfectly it seems to me. Even little things like the tire decal lined up...

another alternative to mission control and bike computers, tested...

I love bikes - straight up / E... anything with wheels. That said - I love the data too! Can never get enough - not sure why. Doesn't detract from my ride - just makes it even better. To each their own but we need more threads on meters and stats - not less IMHO> :) And mschwett - besides...

    Specialized Creo SL Fender, anyone?

Same here - it's a great fender and can be quickly changed to other bikes you might be lucky to have. BTW - what are you doing with electrical tape on your seatpost? Trying to determine best height?

UPDATED - Tero 4.0 fitting bigger tires

I'm not so sure a wider tire will provide you any more cushioned ride. My stock Vado SL tires just ride on the smooth, middle section of the tire. And the knobby part of the tire is used when I bank or turn the bike. So, if my tire was wider, there wouldn't be any change to the ride...

Using Two Range Extenders on One Ride - best practice? Specialized Creo SL

Thanks for posting your power stats for the similar rides - very interesting. Aerodynamics is actually the real deal. :) And the numbers seem similar to what is experienced with standard bikes.

    Shipping of Vado SL 5

Given the cost of renting an Ebike - the shipping cost doesn't seem that terrible. Find it hard to believe they'll fly an SL though since such a high capacity battery. Good to know.

    Winter Service

Hey all - Thanks for the replies. My mistake about the belt - I must have been thinking about a Vado thread and not SL. I have to say I'm a bit relieved because the bike is running so perfectly and I don't want to service it unless absolutely necessary. I am a bit surprised though there's...

    Winter Service

I'm approaching 2k miles on my Vado SL and was considered bringing it to my LBS for service. I got the bike in July. I replaced the chain at 1500 miles and the only other service I've performed are some minor adjustments to the derailleur. It's been an incredible bike. My concern is the belt...

What driver under new Vado SL Sunrace cassette?

Would love to see a list with components changed and weight saved for each. And final weight achieved? Did you get your SL under 30lbs?
