Do you really need to torque a through axle?

On mine you have to fulky oprn the lever to sit in the slot to be able to turn the axle, which means when it tightens you have to guess the torque so it will be tight when you close the lever. I havent noticed the other side, I'll have a look. Is that the screw?

Do you really need to torque a through axle?

I had another problem, just had a look at the axle and I couldnt undo it, the notch isnt strong enough to withstand the undoing force because I tightened it unfastened and started to buckle, I had to use grips on the collar.

Trumpy uses these announcements for bargaining, his whole life is 'the deal', he wrote a book about the art of it. Im pretty sure the actual reality will be far less harmful......crosses toes.

    Just for fun...

This is Whitby, I visit often, its very goth all year round, mainly because its derelict Abby was the inspiration for Dracula. They have a huge goth meet, though it seems a bit more steampunky halloween to me..

Do you really need to torque a through axle?

I was having trouble lining it up, bearing in mind I was next to a 100ft drop into sea, to make it tight enough it was pointing forwards, its a bit fiddly because as you screw it in using the notch, the lever ends up jammed in the notch and you have bend it out to to release it, which tightens...

Excuse my heresy and please help, need advice from the fat tire crowd.

My friends did a christmas ride to Chester, its a bout 50m I think, both on pedal fatties, they found it pretty easy, but had pumped the tyres to around 30psi. The tyres are actually quite light, but 30psi kinda negates the very purpose of the tyre. If you want to offroad and on road, 2.6 is the...

Fatties are surprisingly light, and you're forgetting their greatest trick. They float!

Yes, but they are very good at getting forward traction on loose gravel and climbing shale rock, there is a lot of that in the Lake District near me and I climb things an ordinary tyre would insta fail at. They also spread the load on grass, causing much less damage and getting grip while...

You dont want fat tires on the road, they follow road ridges terribly, completely lose grip if theres mud on the road and without suspension they start buckarooing and of course increased drag.

    Flat tires

Ive actually inflated a tyre pretty hard with no tape, just the inner tube, it bulged a bit out of the holes, but only about 1cm.
