I can’t say what caused the squealing as the shop never even entertained the thought of cracking open the motor housing. They simply informed me that the noise was not normal and consulted with Specialized after I submitted the video. The service manager wasn't sure about the issue either and...

I had 2800 km or roughly 1700 miles logged at the time. The new motor came with a full fresh warranty which has since passed. I dropped it off at the shop which was out of town and was back riding in less than a week. My wife’s motor suffered the same demise a month later and was quickly...

Yeah, what are the chances of that occurring? Complete strangers (Dave being the exception) all riding the same brand of bike. According to this article, Cannondale ranks lower in popularity among Canucks compared to other major brands. It appears that Specialized is the overall king in the...

Bike minded people - Comradery and meeting new and old acquaintances seemed to be the theme on today’s ride. It was another exceptional morning under azure skies. Midway into our ride we crossed paths with another roadie who we’ve never met before. Bruce, like us, is not affiliated with any...

The majority of motorists that pass us along rural roads and highways have been accommodating to say the least. Occasionally we’ll have a few close calls particularly with those who drive larger vehicles. Trucks and trailers hauling grain during this time of the season are a common sight and as...

A similar topic was brought up in another thread about a week ago. I experienced the same squeal in the drivetrain of my Creo two years ago. It may have been resolved by perhaps lubricating the seal but the dealer/Spec decided to simply replace the motor which was covered under warranty. 🤔...

A couple of days ago, we came across this dried-out bed underneath a road bridge nearby the route where we ride. We’ve had very little moisture over the summer and this is further proof to how dire it’s been. The water that you see originated from the nearby wetlands that inhabit the roadside...

We started September off on the right foot with an 80 km loop beginning at the Delburne Road (Hwy #595). My final ride tally for the month of August was 1067 km and the only blemish on the calendar was one day missed due to rain. With the threat of a rail workers strike the furthest thing on...

I agree, seat bags are certainly not equipped to carry a lot of weight. Though some have stabilizers such as Topeak’s Backloader wishbone to aid in preventing the dreaded side to side flop. I admit that Tailfin isn’t for everyone. It’s a pricey bit of kit but the build quality of their...

Yes, perhaps you specifically cuz we all know your feelings about carbon bikes. That's a pretty bold statement. So, tell me Stefan, do you even know how the panniers are attached to a bike? Please enlighten me as to how they would be swinging.

There appears to be a bit of confusion between Ortlieb’s product info and the instructions with regards to carbon bikes. On one hand, it clearly states in the instructions that the seat stay adapters are a no go but in the product data spec sheet it gives the thumbs up to carbon bikes with...

I don’t haul batteries around so I can’t speak to that. With that said, properly packing any pannier regardless of its contents goes a long way with respect to ensuring a rattle proof ride. I’m not sure why either but I suspect that might be Ortlieb just playing it safe. Likely preferable to...

Old Man Mountain are the only other racks that I’m aware of that carry axle fit kits. I never really delved into any detail with regards to their racks just because Tailfin worked best for me and is compatible with all of my bikes. I’m not here to promote Tailfin, I just wanted to state a fact...

Moving from Vado SL EQ to Creo 2

I’m glad that you’re totally satisfied with the quick rack but let’s be honest here, Tailfin’s rack weight limit is 27kg vs 20kg for the Ortlieb plus it’s totally compatible with carbon frames.

With harvest season in full swing, we typically see more local traffic along the narrow stretches of rural roads where we ride. This large combine with its high-capacity grain header is much too wide to legally transit to another nearby field so it simply detaches and tows it from behind.

I’m with Dave. I blame the majority of my falls squarely on my own shoulders….literally.;) Just the other day as I was entering a section of trail with a steep descent (which I’ve ridden countless numbers of times), I turned my handlebars a bit too much attempting to negotiate a corner where...

Today’s ride was a bit of a mixed bag but there never seemed to be a dull moment. From the usual root riddled singletracks. To some that were lusher. From high vantage points. To ones that were slightly less elevated. From wide open expanses. To ones more that were more...

Perhaps you could add a smallish wedge frame bag to house essentials for quick access. Apidura offers a good selection of frame bags to choose from starting from as minimal volume as 1L. There is even a handy interactive sizing tool to help determine the size of pack for your bike. Sometimes we...
