Specialized Turbo Vado 5.0 vs Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ

I have a Turbo Vado 4.0. It was the finest ebike I could find in Colombia. I am not interested in an e mtb, and the Turbo Vado seemed perfect. but a a bicyclist moving over to ebikes, I was not aware of how much bigger and heavier the Turbo Vado would be. With its suspensión fork and 2.3”...

Specialized Vado Turbo SL 5.0 EQ - please help confirm my choice!

I live in Medellin Colombia. Its a fabulous place to ride a bike or ebike. As a 73 year old I decided that the 20% grades so common around here are much better done on an ebike. The problem is that the only quality ebike brand I have found available in Colombia is Specialized. And they dont...

Turbo Vado 4.0 display software update glitch?

So today I rode my TV across medellin and up some wicked steep hills in El Poblado to the Specialized center. When we looked into the mission control app, the glitch had cleared itself! However the folks at Specialized checked out all my software and did an update on the motor. Rode it home...

    Modifications?

The Vado 5.0 is not available in Colombia, nor is the Vado 5.0 SL. I purchased the last 2023 turbo vado 4.0 size large that was in Specialized Colombia’s inventory. Understand that choices are severely limited here. Most ebike brands simply arent sold here

    Modifications?

Just curious about 2 things. 1. has anyone replaced the front suspension fork with a rigid fork, carbon maybe? 2. Has anyone replaced the stock tires with a much lighter set of semi slick tires, for instance Rene Herse Switchback Hill 640b X 48 endurance casing?

OK! There are 3 pics taken today riding around Medellin. Today I rode a little over 42 km. Including a climb up the back road to my apartment which is so steep I watched a traffic jam unfold there a couple days ago when a car simply could not make it up the hill and had to back down a steep...

Picked the bike up today! WOW! It definitely has eboost up to 40 kph! It was amazing riding through Medellin’s heavy stop and go traffic. When I got to the hill up to my apartment, the 20% pitch was a snap in 2nd gear with boost on sport mode! I am extremely impressed. I was also stunned...

I grew up and lived most of my adult life in the Puget Sound area. However since retiring in 2017 I have been calling Colombia my home. First, Chinchina, then Manizales, now Medellin. In the future I hope to relocate somewhere much closer to the sea.

Specialized is HUGE IN Colombia. They are much bigger than Trek, Orbea, Scott, Canyon, Giant, or any other major brands. I know that Mike Sinyard, the founder of Specialized has visited Colombia more than once, and his company took the time and did the work to develop a distribution and sales...

I really like turbo vado SL more than the standard turbo vado. I am a bicyclist at heart and the more it looks and weighs like a conventional bike, the better in my mind……however, I live at 5300 feet ASL, and the climb up the hill to my apartment is short but a brutally steep 27.5% (15.5...

Greetings all. Today I will be ordering a 2023 Specialized Turbo Vado 4.0 from the Specialized dealer here in Medellin Colombia. I suspect I will be a frequent visitor to this forum after that. Just wanted to introduce myself, say “hi” and Thanks for all the experience, encouragement, and...

Known Issues & Problems with Watt Wagons Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have a question about watt wagon configuration: I am currently in an area with very SLOW internet, so I haven’t watched the youtube videos which would probably answer my question, but I did not find and answer in the text info on the wattwagon website. my question is: does the wattwagon use...

Best bike for long distance touring?

I am in total agreement with Mr. Coffee (I DO like the handle, being a coffee junkie from the PNW myself). What seems pretty nice and acceprable and budget friendly when contemplating a 500 mile tour, or after a couple lightly loaded 50 mile days may seem absurd when one is half way up a 5 mile...
