    Recommendations for cycling rain wear?

I finally broke down and bought a $89 cycling rain jacket: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005RB6KN8. I've been a bit strapped for cash, but when I factored in the $5 in gas I spend per day not riding, and the 4 weeks of near-continuous rain we had in September, I realized that it was an...

How often to get an electric bike tune-up?

@Gnexus01, this is funny timing, as I just put my bike in the shop for its once-every-thousand-miles tune-up. I passed 2,000 miles this past week. I also priced out adding a larger gear to the front ($40) so that I don't have to pedal so fast to add oomph to my ride beyond what the bike does for...

    Fenders Question

I've done over 1,800 miles on my Pedego City Commuter and haven't had any issues with the fenders rubbing on the tires... and they're FAT tires, too.

Backtracker Radar Light Detects Cars and Flashes to Protect Cyclists

Can you share what flashing taillight you use? I had a $5 blinker that fell off, and I would like to replace it with something more effective. The Pedego Commuter has a built-in taillight and I ride with a reflective yellow vest, but more is better when it comes to making sure you're noticeable! :)

    Hyperlapse

Wow! Y'all need to check this out: http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/hyperlapse/ I would definitely pay a chunk in order to buy that app!

    Recommendations for grooved roads?

I've actually gotten used to the feeling, and it doesn't freak me out anymore. I still avoid the grooves where I can, including riding on sidewalks for short stretches of my ride to work, but when I can't avoid it, I no longer get freaked out. I'll keep the side-to-side idea in mind. As a...

How to properly break in a new electric bike battery and extend its life

One thing to keep in mind is that the 1,000 (or however many) cycles that a battery is warranted for doesn't mean the battery is useless at that point. It just means that it will charge to only (I believe it's) 90% of its original capacity. Considering that I draw about 60% of my battery's...

Imagine if this was the USA!

I love my step-through framed Pedego City Commuter. I haven't had anyone say anything (so far) about it being a girl-style bike. Probably wouldn't bother me if they did... I'm also the one guy in a Zumba class. LOL

    GoalZero Solar Chargers

Velosurance's insurance policies cover the theft of accessories from a bike. If you left it connected to the bike while it charged...? ;)

New "minimalist" helmet for a new biker?

I like the one I got for $45 at Dick's Sporting Goods. It has good coverage all the way to the nape of my neck, rather than sitting atop of my head like a styrofoam coiffure. :D I have a VERY large head, and it fits me just fine.

    Wind-blox

A few weeks back I bought a pair of Windblox from Amazon.com. I've used them on 6-8 round trips (each round trip = 42 miles) to work. As I've used them, I've found the trick to making them work the best, which is to twist your helmet strap and Windblox around a couple of revolutions, which...

Zzipper Bicycle Fairing for Electric Bikes?

I was considering one for cutting down on wind noise until I bought my much-less-expensive Wind-Blox. Write-up coming soon on those. I've only used them a few times so far, and want to give myself more time to get a feel for them before writing about them.

    Heavy Duty Bike Trailers

BikesAtWork was specifically recommended by Practical Cycle, where I bought my City Commuter, when I asked about doing a Burley Travoy (which they didn't recommend due to needing special hardware to hook it up). I'm definitely interested in getting one of these someday.

I want to avoid Monkey Butt

Also consider padded shorts. I bought these a few months back, and swear by them: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0047DXB7U/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I plan to do a write-up soon.

    EBR Ad on YouTube

I just loaded up a video on YouTube, and it had an ad at the beginning... for EBR! I thought that the voice sounded familiar (I was on a different tab in my browser while it loaded up), and then Court was saying "This is an electric bike...." You'd better believe I switched back to that tab...

    What's Your Dream Electric Bike?

@Court, I'm not ready to buy a Travoy, so have not followed up with Pedego about that part number. If I get to where I'm ready to buy, I'll post the number.

    Bicycle insurance

@JoePah , I keep my tires around 40psi, and check them probably 90% of the time when I leave the house. I have one of those car jump-starters with built-in air compressor right next to my bike.

    My experience with warranty work

Update: I am going to be working with Pedego this week on an issue of unintended acceleration (kinda like Toyota dealt with last year!). When I'm coasting and am set at other than 0 on the console, when I get down to between 4 and 7 m.p.h., the motor will kick in even when my hand is nowhere...

36 volt vs 48 volt electric bike batteries

I regularly take the whole lane going through intersections... esp. when they are "straight-or-turn" lanes. In my 48v City Commuter, I get up to speed enough that I'm not making the car behind me wait or, worse, miss a light they'd otherwise have made.
