    Post Turkey Stress Disorder

I bought a 37 pound frozen range bird in January, left over from the previous year for half price. I had to deal with it last week. Two days defrosting from the deep freeze and then cutting it up VERY CAREFULLY, so I did not need a trip to the hospital for stitches. Took about an hour and now...

What I thought I wanted to reality....

Hi All, I don't know if this will help all those choosing an ebike because it is such a personal choice. But I thought I would share the progression for me and my wife: Start here: A car replacement, great utility We can do all our local trips by bike. Quick runs to the store or errands...

    Elephant in the Room

When you learn to fly a plane they teach you to know how far you can glide to land (No engine) and to ALWAYS have that in mind, so you know what you can reach to land (watch SULLY). Bike riding can be the same. Always know how and where you can bail out. Places that most accidents occur and...

Bicycle Q Factor Definition - Ebike Mid-Drive Motor Q Factor List

Bumping this. My bike i(with Bosch Gen 4 Performance) is at 185mm and I want to lower down about 15mm or more. I can get it down to 180mm with the Praxis replacement crank arms, but that is 280.00 USD! Has anyone fitted pedals with shorter spindles? Cheers

Overwhelmed with options-- help me choose

Hi Jen, Great work. It is hard to keep all of them straight! I would suggest a few of things: 1) Although it is an e-bike, it is still a bike, so it flexes and moves as you, motor or brakes (suddenly slowing) put pressure on it. This is important because it make a big difference on how it...

Overwhelmed with options-- help me choose

HI Jen, Which bikes have you rode? I too looked at a lot of bikes on line, but it was not until I rode 5 bikes that things really got moving with a selection pool. Then on the 6th bike it was VERY clear for me. Since you are in an area with a lot of dealers, IMO, it is time to get some...

    Do I need new pads?

I use these to resurface pads when needed. It shaves off irregularities, and allows the bits to fall through.

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

William thanks for the reply. I am super happy to hear this. This solves SO many issues. No need for solar charging, no need to charge every night on tours, no need for extra battery. Although the bikes performance is totally different with and without assist, it is like two bikes on finding...

    Best Seattle R&M service

@Kaiede, that is great! Not to get into "know it all" territory, I would suggest getting a good pair of pedals with good grip studs for our wet conditions. Also they will help you fit the bike depending on how you will ride it (position bending over). That bike is more setup for riding...

Nireeka triple charged me for 1 ebike

I will second staying away from "startups". I once wanted to support a wireless puck solution. Send them my 175.00. 18 months later and 30 emails, 20 calls, I never got anything. Had to report them to the BB and then they went under. Basically they where doing the psudo Ponzi method...

    Ebike vs analog

Welcome. Which Yamaha bike did you get. Civante? The Allez is a cool bike! It might be the case the bikes, ebike aside, are just so different AND you are well tuned to the Allez, especially on hills. The sway weight on an e-bike can be huge, if you stand especially. I have been riding...

Got a new book.... All-Road Bike revolution.

Hi All, With winter closing in on the northern hemisphere, I got some reading material. The All-Road Bike Revolution | Rene Herse Cycles It is well written and an easy read for beginners and advanced riders. Although not e-bike specific, it does answer a lot of the critical questions being...

What are your plans for winter exercise? Keep riding your ebike or an exercise bike?

Living in the US NW and in a rain shadow. So pretty spoiled with low 40s mostly. But am doing 2x warm up time. and 2x cool down. Other than that, being selective to avoid the wet roads and staying out of the deep mud. Went out into a wind storm with gust to 55mph the other day and it was fun.

    Upgraded rotors 203/180

Not criticizing here, AT ALL, but surprised you did not go for the RT88 with the Icetech feature. I understand they are better at dissipating heat, but they do sometimes slightly warp due to the difference in metals. Brake fade is real. Love the scene in the movie, Ford v Ferrari when it...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

HI William, I am riding a Moustache Dimanche 29.5 with the Gen 4 performance. Thank you for the information about Gen 3 and Gen 4. One question though, if I ride a lot without the assist, (system ON but no assist), I assume that is OK for the motor? I also assume there is no difference...

    Product Improvement:- Feedback to Bosch.

Hello William, thank you for responding to all the inquries. In the future will there be a motor that is 100% free of resistance when assist mode is off? I.e. could there be a clutch that disengages the motor when is assist is off? Thank You in Advance

Assist OFF going downhill or flat roads, how much of a savings?

@rich c , I totally agree, there is not enough data and in fact the data I have is so flawed, I can't even really use that! But since this forum is SOOOO friendly, I did not hesitate to post because, well everyone is cool here. I did use the power meter indicator on the KIOX drive. I am...

Why are the e-bike sold only with heavy inefficient fat tires?

+1, it matters which tires you choose and if they are tubeless also. The bicyclerollingresistance.com is really useful with selecting tires and trying to get more distance from your battery. IMO it is easy to "waste" energy when it is not coming from your legs!
