Dash fender question to you Currie folks, please?

I didn't find anything that unusual about the dash fender arrangement -- i swapped through a couple of pairs of fenders that I had on other mountain bikes (one was blackburn, the other set was esge/sks) and they both fit. I think I've seen other using the planet bike 29er fenders...or other good...

    check your clearance, clarence

Actually, looking again... you have a totally different clip arrangement than I do. Yours carries the cable under the stay nicely and is bolted from the bottom. Mine is a p-clip like the ones you have closer the the quick-disconnect mounts, but the bolt is on the inside of the chain stay.

    check your clearance, clarence

maybe it varies with how tight the routing is... on mine it was quite tight from the bottom bracket area to where the p-clip is, the only way to keep it from encroaching into the wheel area is to hold it back agains the stay.

    double vision

For several years I have been running w/ an Ixon IQ as my primary headlight for my various bikes. It is one of my favorite lights because of it's nice even beam pattern and sharp cutoff that doesn't blind other bikers. It runs on 4AA rechargeables and I usually go a full week on a set w/o...

    check your clearance, clarence

So I was checking tire clearance for eventual placement of winter tires (700x40c studded), and I noticed that the way the motor power cable is run along the chain stay leaves very little clearance: There's p-clip mount on the inside of the chain stay, which I think is a pretty dumb place to...

Proud owner of a new E3 Dash 2015

I bargained for an extra charger when I bought my bike, but I think they go for around $90. For lights Chris had mentioned the Lumotec IQ Fly E as a possibility when I asked about it in another thread.

    toba bike gear shifting issue

It is correct that it is better to avoid using the opposite chain ring/rear cog because of the angle on the driveline. On most bikes this will not cause a jam though, it just is harder on the chain and the teeth of the chainrings and cassette, so it should be avoided. It's probably worse to do...

    Currie E3 Path won't assist above 14MPH

I had a similar problem on my E3 Dash -- it turned out to be the rear brake lever was triggering the auto cutoff because of a misadjusted set screw: it was limiting the lever return. So check the brake levers, that would be my first bet. Also in the manual, look for how to go to diagnostics...

Is this an 16 HP ebike or e-motorcycle?

The video is like a how-to guide for aggravating the general public, setting back equal access advocacy, and making a case for banning electric bikes. The bike itself is pretty interesting though. I'm not sure how the different mode limits would actually fly in terms of regulations though.... a...

    New Commuter needs help

Richard, For panniers, look at ortlieb -- something like the back roller classic or really anything in their line. Some people flinch at the price, but they are completely waterproof, will adjust to securely fit any rack (i've seen them on a city commuter, there's no reason interceptor would be...

I'm realizing now that the 40 mile commute is not sustainable....

Well I should say, my original post was a bit tongue in cheek :) It is true that I'm losing the weight, but it's not truly a concern... It was something that I was hoping for/expecting. A couple of years ago when I was training for an Olympic distance triathlon, I had the same experience when...

I'm realizing now that the 40 mile commute is not sustainable....

I've averaged 2lb/week weight loss since starting to commute with the Dash every day. Luckily I had some biomass reserve when I started and am not in immediate danger, but I won't make it to next year without some changes. Wish me luck.

    New Commuter needs help

Haibikes were the only Bosch bikes I was able to try when I was looking, but they were sweet. Did you think there were any significant differences in Felt's interpretation? I'm a fan of their road bikes so I figure they'd be pretty good.

Isn't a 28mph Bosch the drive we really want?

I think the way that hr727 was written up was pretty good in the way that it specified maximum power and then also expressed the maximum speed in terms of being solely under motor power. That encourages designs where human power is a significant component (unlike traditional mopeds with...

Any details yet about the Dash city kit?

hmm, the front fenders on the set you linked are really long... I may have to consider that instead of just working up a bigger flap form my current set, which are not quite long enough in the front the keep the bottom bracket area clear. Only thing is they might not be quite wide enough for the...

Isn't a 28mph Bosch the drive we really want?

Back when the legislation was being drafted that resulted in "low speed electric bicycles" regulation moving from the NHTSA to the CPSC under HR 727, the background section gave a view on the rationale: Since low-speed electric bicycles are designed not to exceed the maximum speed of a...

iZip E3 Peak vs. Stromer Sport vs. Pedego City Commuter

seems like a good price for the Peak, and the mid-drive setup should make it a better hill climber than the others. When (if) you check it in person, you can use the console diags ((Link Removed - No Longer Exists)) to check the amp hours of the fully charged battery to make sure it is in...

Isn't a 28mph Bosch the drive we really want?

That is some good background Chris. It is not surprising that the big manufacturers are treading carefully, and I think that's ok, even if it holds back some models for a bit. As much as I would love to see a broader range of s-pedelecs, better to avoid doing in a way that results in knee-jerk...

Isn't a 28mph Bosch the drive we really want?

yeah, I think we're on the same page with respect to Haibike (or other Bosch builders) bringing their full line of s-pedlecs...based on what we're seeing from 2015 lineups is that will start to happen (maybe with the road/trekking lines first). The xduro rx 29er I tried didn't feel 'weak'...
