    Chainring question

You mentioned Blackspire and as I found out they are Canadian I contacted them. They sent me the following info: https://www.blackspire.com/product/super-pro-mtb-series-chainrings/ I might order directly from them as I live in the boonies and compatible bike shops are at least 2 hour...

    Chainring question

In looking further Joe Remi, I looked at the front derailleur ad and I took the chain guide off my bike to look at the mounting boss. (Link Removed - No Longer Exists) There are two views of the front changer and clearly the Haibike frame was designed first and foremost for the double...

    Chainring question

The cable guide for a front derailleur is already in place on my bike (2016 SL) so fitting the same front mechanism used on the 6.0 should be fairly simple I believe though I have not looked at all the details. I think the chainring guide mounting boss would be high enough out of the way...

    Chainring question

Hmm I see that you had to use a supplier outside the USA. A good one I'm sure :-) UK is still a strong DIY culture thankfully. Not sure where to get Haibike parts in USA and hoping I don't need much and my first step would be to call where I bought my bike and my wife's. I...

    Chainring question

I am looking at possibly using a slightly larger chainring on my Sduro Trekking so I dont use the smallest sprocket (11t) on the rear cluster very much, possibly changing to a double chainring, so as not to lose the granny gears I need to get to my home. The cranks and chainring are marked FSA...

    Rattle from brakes

Thanks for your comments JayVee. This is my first bike with disk brakes. I probably just need to adapt and get used to it. Its only when the brakes are cold that it seems excessive. I have not been at high speeds. Going down hill I doubt if I have been above 17 mph.

    Rattle from brakes

My new Sduro Trekking SL is running nicely and the weather is finally being more reasonable. From my house I ride down a road which is a "very" steep hill. Its about 300 yards and steep enough to require serious 4x4 in winter and very difficult to walk up. Riding down it on the...

Here is one example of the Northwind bag and you can see the adapterplate points sticking out in one view. My bag will be smaller however and I bought in on Ebay in USA for $17. Quite good quality. Ironically since I bought it, that company now sells it for $37 ! Made in...

    ......

Someone went to a lot of trouble to produce that neat drawing. The fahrradmagasin article shows the Carrymore Adapterplatte I have been looking for attached to a metal basket and I guess there are many folks who go for that. I admit that like you, that's not what I would want LOL. My wife...

    ......

Hmm.......I was not aware of that. I think I ran across a connection with Cannondale but like you I cannot find an adaptor than can be shipped to USA. I wonder why Haibike continues to use the system ?? I have found an XLC on German Ebay but shipping to USA is a no go as you say...

    tires for loose gravel

Thanks JRA :-). I will certainly give that a try. I also own a Land Rover and that technique is used sometimes to deal with some surfaces.

    ......

JayVee, I know exactly what that part is for. The rack is Carrymore /I-rack made by XLC I believe. When bags made for the I-rack system are inserted into the two cross member with the holes in them, they have two slightly pointed pieces which go into the holes. There are notches...

    tires for loose gravel

Thanks JR. I have looked at the info available on line and what is marked on the tire sidewalls. As you say it is 622. Perhaps a slightly wider mtb tire with a more knobbly tire exists in the Schwalbe line. I am going to do some research. I already have a Smart Sam which...

    tires for loose gravel

Weather is warming up so I am riding my new bike more. I am an older rider. I have a Sduro trekking SL and it has 700C tires, Schwalbe Plus Tour, which are only knobbly on the outer edges. I find that I am fine on the ashalt surfaces but when riding on loose gravel, I feel shaky...

    I-rack for Sduro Trekking

Many thanks to Ravi for the tip and info on the company in the Netherlands !! They have parts I have not found on other sites and they will ship to USA. JayVee I saw many parts for Ortlieb bags on this site too. I think you have what you need already but I will pass on the link as...

    I-rack for Sduro Trekking

Yes, due to a slight physical handicap, I find it very difficult to mount the bike, then fold up the present kickstand and I have accidentally ridden off a couple of times with the stand down. i would much prefer one that folds up automatically when the weight of the bike is lifted off.

    I-rack for Sduro Trekking

Interesting !! Thanks Ravi. Actually I would like to buy one, perhaps even two as I very recently bought 2 Sduro Trekking SL's from a well known company in Madison, one for me and one for the missus. How would you suggest I proceed ?

    I-rack for Sduro Trekking

Thanks again JayVee. I might be able to emulate with the Ursus Mooi what Pletscher has done with theirs. I will have to judiciously choose a spring from the nearest Lowes LOL. In any case it will be easier than trying to buy something from Germany. There seems to be an...

    I-rack for Sduro Trekking

Those pannier attachments are very neat and quick and convenient. I bet you are glad you found them :-) I have some Dutch "Cordo" panniers that my wife and I bought a few years ago in NL and they match the carrier but have "painfully awkward" velcro straps to hold them on. I...
