    Hill climber

What is your reasoning for a bike weighing less than 50 pounds? A 250 watt motor properly geared for hilly areas should easily climb 15-20% grades. I have a Trek Allant + 8s, 250 watts, 46 tooth cassette, 40 tooth crankset which weighs around 90 pounds with racks, bags, lights, water etc. I...

    New Schwalbe tires for 2023

If it is anything like the regular Johnny Watts it should be as quiet. I should have them installed in a few weeks and will let you know. My primary reason for buying the 365 was for winter use. They also said the compound is formulated for cold climates.

Schwalbe Johnny Watts (and other Schwalbe SUV tyres) User Club

Just note that the Johnny Watts tire has been available for e-bikes for quite a while. The Johnny Watts 365 tire is a little different that the regular Johnny Watts. The tread pattern is different and I believe the rubber compound has been specifically designed for colder climates. Jim

Known Issues & Problems with Trek Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Currently I am at 5711 miles and have never had this happen. There is something obviously wrong and I would recommend you have it checked out completely by a competent bicycle shop. Could be the wheel spokes need to be adjusted.

First ebike- mixed use neighborhood and mountain trails

Twelve months ago I had four Trek analog bicycles. Then I purchased a Trek e-bike (Allant+ 8s). I now have one analog bike (Trek 520) which has not been ridden for a year.

Also, you can install a chainring with less teeth to increase your mechanical advantage if you frequently climb a lot of hills. You lose a few miles per hour but unless you are a commuter, who needs to maintain 25 m.p.h.?

I realize this sounds like a broken record, however, improving your fitness will help but getting a much larger cassette will make your hill climbing so much easier.

4-5 miles per hour on a 13% grade is very respectable. Anything under 3 m.p.h. puts you at risk for falling over if you do not pay attention. The other higher grades should be achievable once you get the lower gearing and build up your stamina. I have a Trek Allant + 8s with the 625 battery...

13%...17%...No wonder you have been having issues. Any reduction in gearing is going to help. My bike has up to 85nM available and is specifically geared for steep grades. While I would be able to climb your hills it would take extra effort, even with the extreme low gearing and torque. If...

The suggested inflation for my 2.0 Schwalbe tires is 35-60 pounds. I run them at 40 p.s.i. and they ride like a Rolls Royce.
