Marji and I took a 40 mile round trip ride to Roseland Park in Woodstock, CT to see a local art show. The park was nice as was some of the art. The best though was the high class outhouse.

I can understand why a test ride on an electronic shifting Rohloff would be unsatisfactory. I received my Homage with Rohloff late in July. The first ride was rough. But few hours practice in timing the shift improved the experience. Now I don’t notice the pause at all. I have put about 1500...

Marji and I rode through part of the Natchaug State Forest in Eastford, CT yesterday. They were in the process of clearing out the dead oak trees killed by 3 years of gypsy moth blight. The trees can survive 2 years of defoliation but not 3. This area was hard hit. Riding through an avenue...

To close out August I arranged a 60 mile ride with my wife Marji and her sister Bev. They rode our original Magnum Metro bikes. Marji still loves her Magnum. The range of the Magnums is about 40 miles so we rode to Bev's house about 25 miles away and charged the bikes while we had lunch and...

    Eurobike 2019

The ebike shop where I purchased my Homage GX Rohloff is closed for 10 days as they attend this show. I hope they order lots of amazing ebikes. I’m not in the market right now but fascinated by the rapid growth and innovation of ebikes.

    Rohloff E-14, Gear Freewheeling

I’ve done exactly the same. Once I was riding with my sister-in-law, she was on my hub drive Magnum, explaining how this new bike was more like “regular” biking when up on the left and down on the right and stall mid hill. Fortunately I had practiced starting on a hill. Her comment when I...

For the past 50 years all my bikes were equipped with some type of derailleur shifting including my...
