Need help ordering spare rotors for trek allant 8s

Yep! I've had metallics on a mtb and biked in the rain a lot, and it sounds like a freight train when you are downhill braking hah

Need help ordering spare rotors for trek allant 8s

I interpreted @TS25 as saying that pads and rotors are paired together, so if you are replacing both, best make sure they are complementary. For e.g., I replaced my resin pads with metallic pads for longer life, so I bought corresponding rotors that could handle metallic pads. As for rotor...

One thing to check for are the bottom bracket shell faces, which typically need to be cleaned up on new frames (from paint and some aren't square ). Paying a LBS with the proper tool is well worth it: https://www.parktool.com/product/bottom-bracket-tapping-facing-set-bts-1 @AHicks...

Zen Katana E-bike Light (DOT compliant)

I know Ravi didn't say he was going for StVZO standards (Germany), but you also don't want the light too high to be blinding. Hard to say from this picture if too high/low. http://www.light-test.info/en/faq-en/169-stvzo-bike-lamps-regulations

The latest trend that’s helping reduce e-bike prices - Single-speed electric bikes

This, surprisingly, is not uncommon in bikeshare. The need to shift and how to shift, is not intuitive.

Zen Katana E-bike Light (DOT compliant)

Kind of cool @Ravi Kempaiah if you did a light shootout, the way MTBR does theirs, but for e-bike specific lights. Nothing trumps how lights perform in the real world though. These pictures look great but camera settings can make a huge difference.

    Spread looks great, too.

Thanks for all of this! So cool. I have drooled over this motor for a while. Your part selection makes a lot of sense. How would you compare the smoothness/power delivery of the motor relative to a Yamaha, Bosch, or Brose?

The latest trend that’s helping reduce e-bike prices - Single-speed electric bikes

Instead of a cassette, you have a cog, instead of a rear and front derailleurs or just rear derailleur you have neither, instead of a asymmetrically laced wheelset it is a stronger symmetrically laced wheelset, the tweaks to the system in assist come from firmware which scales nearly at $0, no...

The latest trend that’s helping reduce e-bike prices - Single-speed electric bikes

Singlespeed gets at the right pricepoint, plain and simple. I think designing the firmware such that assist is smooth and increasing on a hill is critical, so as to maintain an optimal cadence.

    Anyone with a 2020 Revolt E Pro?

That plain sucks. I had my prior bike out of service for months which made my commute more difficult and less enjoyable. You can actually look forward to a commute everyday with an electric bike! Ahh, the old swap-a-display trick. Mine was swapped at ~600mi., with similar results (i.e. no...

    Anyone with a 2020 Revolt E Pro?

I'm at 1,000 miles and change with the same issue. I have documented the cut-offs and it is much more frequent in rough, jarring terrain. Have yet to take it to the local dealer, because this is a warranty replacement bike for an entirely different Giant e-bike and I am technically...

Ebike makers: winners and losers in 5-7 years?

Hungary and Germany, respectively. Displays and associated boards I would expect elsewhere (China).

Ebike makers: winners and losers in 5-7 years?

There really is no reason to manufacture here. Design? Sure! But manufacturing as some hinted at is laborious in the winding of motors. Not sure if all motors on e-bikes are hand wound. I think Paul who is working on Zen with Ravi made one.

Ebike makers: winners and losers in 5-7 years?

I think embedded in your analysis are some interesting bits. You provide a list of 'common internet bikes', which indicates to me that you don't value them much differently from each other. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with this. So say they are competing on price in this case. Wouldn't...

Ebike makers: winners and losers in 5-7 years?

Innovation usually comes from the outside (so not Canyon, Trek, Giant et. al.). I'm guessing Radpower, Vanmoof, and maybe even a present company like Zen (Ravi, I hope you are painting furiously haha!)

Is anyone trying to solve charging on the road?

No, in its present state, I would not suggest going eTouring without a charger. I am talking about a future I could envision with charge stations making chargers superfluous. I can't imagine everyone hauling a solar panel setup (if it works for you, that's great) to get charge.

Is anyone trying to solve charging on the road?

If you look at Kuhmute's setup, they are using an adaptor to charge different devices. True, it's not nearly as useful to have charge stations in cities if you tour outside of cities. But in the cases that people do, you still need the charger and it's adaptor to charge so that's one less thing...
