    E-bike riding instruction and tips

    I'm spoiled by Yamaha's zero cadence system I guess

    Chain stretch

    I'll probably be crucified for this but I use maxima chain wax... It's made for motorcycle chains. Aerosol can, goes on wet, dries to a waxy texture. Doesn't fling off and penetrates really well

    Stromer ST5 - impressions from a daily commuter after 6100 kms

    This reads more like an advertisement although listing his mods was good

    E-bike riding instruction and tips

    It's fun to holler out "that's cheating" to OTHER ebikers as you pass them on your ebike. I've yet to get a good comeback from anyone

    At what Temperature do you NOT go for a ride ? {Above & Below, in Fahrenheit}

    In the 40's My nose runs and my mouth starts going numb. I also find it hard to wear a hat under my helmet but I've used a balaclava and that works o.k. It stops being "fun" for me at around 45 degrees and lower

    At what Temperature do you NOT go for a ride ? {Above & Below, in Fahrenheit}

    Even easier: take the temp in C, double it and add 32.... gets you close

    How do you charge your battery when the power is out? :) :)

    Chain stretch

    Yep, it's just great to see what everyone is getting. More important to me are the mid drives but I'm sure the info is appreciated by all

    Chain stretch

    Not familiar with Magnum. Is it a mid drive?... These reports of chain life are great! I'm at 1,150mi. now with yamaha PW and 10 speed cassette w/ dual chain rings up front. I'm hoping to be able to double that before 1st chain replacement based on very minimal stretch to date

    Hydraulic rim brake issue

    I think the warranty is only for one year.. We bought the bike a little over a year ago.. It only has 500 mi. on it. I'm going to see if the LBS will look at it to save the 1 hour drive to the dealer

    Hydraulic rim brake issue

    Just removed front wheel and brake pads.. Sanded brake pads down in case they were glazed but they didn't appear to be.. Lot's of meat left on them. cleaned rims with acetone.. Re-installed. brake pads squeeze the rim and are equidistant but do not slow the front wheel down. No evidence of any...

    Hydraulic rim brake issue

    Looking for the quick release lever.. The only thing I can find is a little sliding tab under the brake lever which seems to add bring the pads closer to the wheel when engaged. Brakes still don't grab. Braking action is next to nill.. I'm no bike mechanic but am fairly handy. This has me...

    Hydraulic rim brake issue

    The pads are just shy of touching the rims, as close as I can get them w/o touching. With the brake lever pulled and the pads squeezing the rim, it's easy to push the bike forward, the brake does not hold.. I have cleaned the rims with acetone. I guess I'll try new pads but they look fine and...

    Recommended maintenance

    Not to mention a good way to get pinch flats is by riding under inflated tires

    Recommended maintenance

    Not really "mainenance" but check your tire pressure often. I'm always amazed at how quickly bicycle tires lose pressure

    Hydraulic rim brake issue

    My wfe has a Gazelle Easy flow that has magura hydraulic rim brakes. The front brake does almost nothing to slow the bike down. The brake lever has been adjusted and engages properly and does not come in contact with the hand grip when applying the brake. When I apply the brake while looking at...

    2018 Haibike trekking 6.0... 500mi. report

    The handlebar water bottle cage is working out o.k.. It's a little unsightly but doesn't interfere with any controls and my knees clear it so it works for me.

    2018 Haibike trekking 6.0... 500mi. report

    Update: Close to the end of good riding here in N. Michigan and I'm now at 1,053 mi.. The plastic bracket that holds the mode selector broke. The bike has never been dropped or mishandled. Maintenance is done on a stand so I have no idea what made it break but I used some 5 min. epoxy which is...

    Don't charge your bike battery above 80% and don't ride below 20%. Maybe, maybe not.

    I do occasional charges to 100% so all cells will be balanced but otherwise just time my charges. For every 2 minutes of charging my battery goes up 1%. My standard short ride from the house is about 6 mi. and uses 10% of my battery so I typically charge to 60% and when I'm done with the ride...

    Don't charge your bike battery above 80% and don't ride below 20%. Maybe, maybe not.

    Good chart however I doubt anyone will charge to 75% and then discharge to just 65%.... 75-25 seems reasonable though
