I've got two Gains, Carbon and Alloy. Never experienced any sort of drag to register. If I do get drag at all? Maybe I'm just too strong to notice? I would though expect if free wheeling to slow down quicker. That is one heavy hub.

Yes, if you use the app, it will show what assist mode you are in. Modes go from 0 - 3.

Don't ride with assist turned off. Have it set to "0" no assist when not needed. No drag from motor then.

If on your bike (the top tube switch) you don't have a flashing pink on the level indicator?) Then I wouldn't be too concerned. Sounds like only a problem with the app, and nothing to do with the battery or drive system.

The motor likes revs on hills. Push a bug gear up hill and you won't get much in the way of assist. This is how I used to ride for decades. In order to get max assist when climbing I have had to change my style of riding. I now sit and spin my way up hills, achieving max help from the motor.

Same here Young. I've got 2 Gains and never noticed any drag on either of them, regardless if ridden on or off. One way to check? Turn bike upside down, push cranks round a number of times and time the slow down of rear wheel before coming to a stop. Mines exactly the same.

I have both a carbon and alloy Gain (alloy is for winter) yes they do ride differently. The alloy bike ride is slightly harsher, but that could be helped by using a carbon seatpost and carbon railed sadde, a much cheaper alternative than purchasing the carbon model. Plus it comes with mudguard...

Like I said I have 2 Gains. Roughly 1000 difference in usage. I will teat them both on my rollers over a few different speeds and measure the slow down period. Let ya know?

I've had both my Orbea M20i and Trek Domane turned upside down. Same gear, same number of turns, the Gain rear wheels runs down much quicker and also stops more abruptly, while the Trek runs on for much longer slowing down gradually.

I've had one of my Gains since March. Never cleaned it, gotta be dirty around the locking ring area where the sensor is. Hope you don't have anymore troube with it?
