US National Park Service Announces Policy for Electric Bicycle Use in National Parks

The National Parks have become a crowded mess complete with traffic jams. The National Forests are where you want to be!

First e-bike for commuting with steep roads

I would estimate the worst grades i have to negociate are 5-6%. For you non engineering types, that is 5-6 feet vertically for every 100 feet horizontally. 5% is the max on a bike trail to comply with the ADA requirements though you can get exemptions.

First e-bike for commuting with steep roads

Finding a good balance between top speed and hill climbing is key. So far I am quite pleased with my build in this respect.

    World War III

WW III? More like the global betrayal of humanity. The concentration of wealth has opened the way for evil to run unchecked.

    E bike for wifey.

Mine is a luddite at heart. Prefers a single speed coaster break. I know it's possible to do an ebike this way but it would seem to be quite limiting.

    E bike for wifey.

She is going to need one in order to ride with me. She likes the classic/cruiser style so one of those " townie" bikes would probably be perfect. Not sure I could find a suitable donor bike, step through, disk brakes, bottom bracket able to take a BBS02 without trouble. Going to take some...

    Bafang BBSHD Problems

I steered away from a 52v set up after reading this; https://www.empoweredcycles.com/blogs/news My 48v 20ah battery and BBS02 are plenty powerful and move my 220# bulk easily up long hills.

Best trunk rack for MIK racks

I've just put a Bontrager Mik rear rack on and am shopping for a trunk. Is the Bontager utility trunk a good choice? I lke that it has side pockets.

Aging (not for the feint of heart).......

40 years ago i herniated a disk doing a stupid strongman move of lifting a heavy rototiller out of the back of the station wagon (remeber those)? That injury flares up regularly and i need valium to ease the muscle spasms. About 10 years back i was diagnosed with Multi Focal Motor Neuropathy...

Get a top quality high amp hour battery and smart charger. I've got a BBS02 48V and a high spec 20ah battery and i can tell it was a good choice. Those high torque motors will wear on your drive train.

Hmmn...do ya think think it's not stolen?

The cops have little interest investigating property crimes. This allows theives to run amok and reduce the quality of life for the law abiding.

Get a good helmet, and wear it.

I am on a blood thinner so a helmut is a must wear item. I used to ride my motorcycle sans helmut. No more though.

    New builder, e biker (omc,1957)

You are a perfectionist! I was just interested in seeing that the build functioned as it should. I have time now to clean up the wiring though i do not plan to shorten and solder anything though i could. I am pleased with the build and happy I did it. Is that headlight wired into the bafang...

    New builder, e biker (omc,1957)

Just got back from a 15 mile ride. Did some long hills with ease, climbed 600' in elevation. Battery still shows full though it was charged to 80%. Let's see how much luck I have posting pics...yes, that is lake Superior ( enough water to cover south, central and North America with 2 feet!)
