How Important Is It To Choose A Dealer Close To Your Home?

If you're budget-minded, and have decided on a fat tire, I would suggest asking around if some shop would service Juiced Bikes. Or if independent mobile service covers your area - there is Velofix and another one, forgot the name. Juiced Rip Current costs $300 more than Bintelli, has much...

How Important Is It To Choose A Dealer Close To Your Home?

More important is to buy a bike that fits your needs and has a reliable track record. This is just a shop servicing what they're selling. It's a Chinese bike, completely designed and made there. Frame looks generic (aren't they all these days? :) ), parts are cheapish. They've been making gas...

Choosing my first ebike, up to $2k budget

Not a common feature in your price range, and not common in folding bikes. RAD Mini has quick release but at this weight the job doesn't qualify as "easy", IMO.

    First time e-ride

There is rarely a reason for an older male not to choose a step-through. I can think of only 2 reasons: you don't like how step through looks, or you can't find a step through with features that you want for the price you can afford.

Choosing my first ebike, up to $2k budget

If you go for a folding 20" bike, definitely don't limit yourself to hydraulics only. Very few 20" bikes have hydraulics. As noted, hydraulics require less effort per equal stopping power but 20" bike won't be moving fast so you won't need much effort. I would say mechanical disc brakes are...

Choosing my first ebike, up to $2k budget

    1) Yes, easy. Telescopic folding stem on most 20" folders. I don't think handlebars on Sondors Smart Step can be turned sideways easily and without re-adjusting again later. You aren't going to like lifting 68 lbs bike like Mini into trunk. 2) Doesn't matter for 2 mile drive. DD adds resistance...

    Battery Care/Usage Question

It's better to swap. Weaker battery makes the other 2 work harder.

    hub motor issues

Loose sensor won't prevent brake pads from working. Now, whether loose sensor would disconnect the motor power forever (until you fix it), or won't disconnect it at all (until you stop pedaling or release the throttle) - I'm not sure. If engineers have done their job right, failed/loose sensor...

    hub motor issues

Aventon have a good manual. "Error 25: Brake Error. Loose brake inhibitor sensor or brake has been engaged for more than 5 secs". I think they do this to prevent brake fluid from boiling.

E-Bikes in Japan - just a little article

Folow the money. As Timpo noted, those 1970-looking cars are actually new. Mr. Toyoda is running the country, he doesn't want people driving old cars, he wants them to buy a new car every 5 years.

    Recommend some bikes?

Barbara, don't read too much into "non-powered" geometry. Some of this doesn't apply to cruisers, especially ebike cruisers. On ebike you'll be pedaling less or with less effort than on non-powered bike. If you feel comfortable - I would say go for it even if your legs are not fully extended...

    Cycle friendly streets ?

Same here in BC Canada. Buses and metro are running half-full, the other half is marked to be left vacant. I'm trying to avoid city transit now but didn't notice problems with bike space on trains. Either restrictions worked, or low population density did, - or maybe both. New cases per day in...

I don't think RAD open the box when it arrives from China to RAD warehouse in the US.

    Aventon quality and reliability

Compared to Pace 500, Electric Bike Company Model Y has lights, front basket and a lot of curb appeal. I does look elegant. Chain cover is a nice touch too (it seems that most ebike manufacturers completely forgot about this item). Model Y costs $1,800 with optional 7 gears, including $...

    Aventon quality and reliability

You'll have a hard time finding a bike lighter than Pace 350/500 at that price with this size of motor and battery. Some shops are charging $100-150 assemble it. If you never assembled an ebike before, it's worth having somebody to do this.

Advice on buying first e bike

Juiced used to make Cross Current Step Through a few years ago, discontinued now. It was a "high" step through, about 22" stand-over height. Maybe wasn't popular, for this reason. Most step through frames have 17-19" stand-over height - and even this can be too high for some people. Frames...

Advice on buying first e bike

The OP at 74 sort of qualifies as "grandpa", doesn't he... There aren't too many commercial e-trikes under $1600 from reputable makers and they all have 2 rear wheels, only one wheel driven - either front wheel or one of the rear wheels. Sun 24 Traditional is one - barely under $1600 with...

    Aventon quality and reliability

Both Pace 350 and 500 allow limiting max speed. Limiting speed to 20 mph will make Pace 500 a Class 2 without having to remove the throttle. In Europe Class 2 = 15 mph but in the US Class 2 = 20 mph. NY state allows Class 2 with the same 20 mph.
