    Ebike Marketing Strategy

So they are trying to attract customers who don't know... anything. God help their customer service department :) My alarm bell usually goes off when I see this kind of marketing material - too little info and too obvious attempts to, er... influence. Even if the product is good. When I want...

    First ebike

Yes, Aventon have fewer shops than other big brands. Though, most states would have a few dealers. Aventon Pace 500 is at least same loaded with features than Electra Townie Go 7D at the same $1,500, but Electra is Class 1 while Pace is Class 3 (not important for the OP). Pedego Comfort...

    First ebike

I hope this will not turn into another long discussion of hub vs mid. The "kick" that you felt was due to controller setup (too much power on PAS 1), and cadence sensor (especially on lower-priced bikes). Most hubs have cadence sensor, while most mid drives have torque sensor - more smooth...

    2 Battery Care Options

#1 - alternate, or #3 - sell the other one ASAP and buy when you need it. #2 is a bad idea because it will deteriorate in storage even when you're not using it, it's slowly eating itself from inside regardless of charging/discharging cycles. This is a chemical process that goes non-stop from...

    Anyone recognize this motor brand?

Looks like they went out of business because didn't have the right battery back then. Not only it was NiMh but it also was in the hub, thus limiting its size.

    Ebike Marketing Strategy

The problem - or a benefit for a seller - is that those buying into something like this video, will likely remain dumb for a long time (inexperienced, ignorant, whatever) - because they have all the prerequisites for this. They don't want to learn, compare, research. Like a friend of mine said...

    Anyone recognize this motor brand?

Looks like a direct drive, possibly in 750-1000W range. Or a VERY old geared hub of much smaller wattage. It's not new, like others said might not be worth your time. Ebikes are not classic cars, older are not worth much. Doesn't really matter what brand, but you may talk to ES people if this is...

    Ebike Marketing Strategy

Catering for those dumber ones. Yutube is a powerful tool, a lot of viewers have a short attention span, not able to think on their own. If you have never ridden an ebike before - do you research, this is $2K, not $2. A fool and his money... - you know how the saying goes :)

    Clarification, please...

You can go slow on PAS 1 if you have to. One thing you can do is to skip every 2nd or every 3rd pedals revolution - the motor will run momentarily, stop, run again and so on, average speed will be low but uneven. Another option is to go into display settings and reduce max speed to 30 kmh (19...

    Narrowing down to three Choices

I find this article to be biased and half the time plain wrong. Negatives of a hub, as per ICB: 1. Shipping is expensive as your have to ship an entire wheel. Or, you can order only the motor and have it laced into a rim when it arrives. However, that is expensive. Not expensive, you can...

I need help finding a cruiser for under $1000 for tall rider.

Nakto has short cranks, you can extend the seat post but the mechanics of riding will still be off, for a long-legged rider. I was wrong earlier, saying that Nakto has no PAS - it does, but it is unusable. There is only one PAS level, it corresponds to High, this is inconvenient and people...

I need help finding a cruiser for under $1000 for tall rider.

Get Aventon Pace 350 for $1,100. Decent bike, decent company with dealers. There are bikes in $600-900 range, but there is nothing good there. Upzy: Ecotric $710. Or Walmart, they have "something" for $600, as I recall. Might not last long enough for resale.

I need help finding a cruiser for under $1000 for tall rider.

Now please somebody explain me what is the "electric throttle control". Are there non-electric throttles, like non-electric widows in 1970 car?

I need help finding a cruiser for under $1000 for tall rider.

Nakto is a bad idea for somebody who's not sure about ebikes. It doesn't have PAS, only throttle, so she wouldn't get the full experience. There was a slightly better Ancheer, tiny 250W motor and only 3 PAS levels, but it seems they are out of stock. Ebikes under $1,000 are generally throw-away.

Eeyo: lightweight, belt-driven, rear-hub, carbon fiber e-bike from Gogoro

More like "makes me feel like I'm 8 again". Rear hub looks odd, btw. I realize that it contains the entire electrical system of the bike, but still odd.

Will 20$/ barrel oil, 1$ /gallon stop people from buying an ebike ?

Since mid-April crude oil has been going up as the world is reopening. Historically, gas price fluctuations were not causing people to switch between cars and bikes in masses. It takes a lot more than that - ex, gas shortages when you just can't get reliably any gas, or extremely high or...

Once more into the breach...an attempt to understand (not judge) throttle vs. mid-drive torque sensing -

No. Changing ring and gears is up to you. It's in the text - in specs - not in the video. But I think Court is wrong, it's Aurora Galaxy that has 16.5 standover, while Aurora Limited is 18". Manufacturer usually knows his bikes.

    More confused!!

Toronto is not perfectly paved, as I recall. But it is flat. Your range is short enough for most any ebike. This makes me think 26-29" tires, 2.0-2.3" wide (forget the efficiency of 1.5" tire, you have a motor). Suspension fork is desirable, not absolutely necessary. Motor wattage 350-500W...

In the Court review. Did you try some frame with 18", anyway?

    Bike Boom Redux

The current boom was caused by the epidemic: transit users have turned to cycling, those on forceful vacation also turned to cycling, having nothing to do and nowhere to go - gyms are closed. Kids tag along, they are also on "vacation", schools and daycares are closed. This will end when the...
