I just smile and talk to them about how much fun it is, and how much I save on gas. I say "you should get one to, you'll love it." Sometimes I let them ride it up the road. Never had anyone just ride off yet!! I really want to see more riders in my area.

I ride mine as much as possible reducing car trips significantly! I have put over 1k miles on ebikes in the last 8 months. Winter is about to start, so we'll see if I can ride the bike through the cold.

I ride in NC it's a lot of fun. Be careful with traffic interactions. Since there isn't a lot of ebike riders here people underestimate my speed frequently. I just roll with it and give them space, but have had people pass me awkwardly. I mostly ride in 30 mph and below zones and ride an spedelec.

So... I was under the impression that ebikes are completely outlawed in NY and that even regular bikes have to be registered to ride on public property. Am I completely mistaken?

I Think the display is off. Mine stops assistance at 30.2, but my road has a speed display sign that shows 27-28 when I go by it. I could test with the gps tomorrow.
