Anyone have experience with SRAM Eagle Transmission on any Specialized e-bike?

I have a fair amount of experience. My 2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ came with SRAM Eagle GX shifter and derailleur. It had an HG freehub with SRAM PG-1230 11-50T classette and a 44T 110 BCD chain ring. I like to gear my Class 3 e-bikes such that the next to tallest gear (11th speed in this case)...

    Vado SL's - actual weights

I have a 2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ with large frame. I have modified it with an SRAM XD driver freehub, SRAM GX1275 10t-52t cassette, and Wolftooth 46t chain ring, all of which are a bit lighter than stock. The seatpost and handlebars are carbon fiber. I have augmented the cockpit with a Garmin...

Vado SL 4.0 - riding in the rain?

I just did a three day ride of 171 miles on my 2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ, Day 2 of which was 52 miles and 1500 ft elevation in pouring rain. Rain was so heavy that the raindrops would sting on descents. I had a rain cover for my rack bag and another for my leather Selle Anatomica saddle. Other...

    Vado 4.0 SL range

I have a 2022 Vado SL 5.0 EQ that weighs in at just under 52 lbs fully loaded with fenders and rack, rack bag with assorted contents, 2 full water bottles, 2 range extenders, Garmin Edge Explore 2, and aux blinking headlight and tailight. Plus a 220 lb rider on top. I set my assist ranges to ECO...

    New Model Release Dates?

Why more power? I am 72 years old and had a heart attack 20 years ago. I love my 1.1 version Vado SL 5.0 EQ and just finished a 3 day 171 mile group ride. However more power on climbs would be very useful. On these enduro rides, I carry TWO range extender batteries and change one out at around...

If you were me, which Turbo Vado SL would you buy?

I already made the decision and purchased a screaming yellow new-stock SL 5.0 EQ. The wider ratio SRAM is really worth it. I have upgraded mine by installing the XD driver, 10-52 GX cassette, and a GX chain, and a 46T front sprocket. The ratios are now just right so that I have a "grinder" low...

Bike shop charging fee to upgrade mission control?

The most recent mid-November firmware upgrade for my 2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ which included battery, motor, display, and two range extender batteries was done at my local shop for free (and I did not purchase the bike there). I was very pleased. Of course, I do all of the Mission Control...

2022 Turbo Vado SL Rack Time rack adapter

I purchased a rack bag (sits on top of the rack) that had a built in Ractime Adapter. The adapter alone can be ordered here...

2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ vs 2015 Turbo

I have been using Microtune as well as judicious use of all 12 gears to try to optimize. I will continue to experiment. It is a combination of cadence, heart rate, assist level, terrain, and whether I am riding with my daughter or not ( who is an animal).

    Chain for Turbo Vado SL5

I just put a new chain on my Vado SL 5 EQ. I had to remove one pair of links (124 links) to get enough pre-tension on the small rear cog to keep the idler wheel from hitting the cluster. You should hang the two chain from a nail on a rafter to compare lengths (ignoring effects of stretch). BTW...

2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ vs 2015 Turbo

The dealer (Seacoast e-Bikes in NH) took my original Turbo in trade since it was in such good condition. I put the stem, seatpost, bars, etc. back to stock and sold them on eBay, but it still has the uprated battery, fender/rack kit, and Shimano Deore XT 11-speed in case anyone is interested in...

2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ vs 2015 Turbo

The original Turbo S was announced in 2012 with a 250w GoSwiss direct drive hub motor and 324 Wh battery at $7,255+. It predates the Vado by quite a bit. The base Turbo that I had was 2015 model year (mfg'd in late 2014) at $3,800 and had a derated version of the same motor. In 2016, the Turbo...

2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ vs 2015 Turbo

None. I was getting some wear on the SRAM and wanted to get a less expensive replacement to see how it works. Appears fine so far after shimming the 3rd spider. Plus I wanted to new chain, cassette, and chain ring to be worn in together. I know the SRAM cassette will always work fine. If I...

2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ vs 2015 Turbo

I thought I might attach a few photos of the two bicycles including the most recent driveline changes to the Vado SL. Here is the 2015 Turbo with 11 spd Shimano 11-42 mech. Ths is the pretty much final configuration of the bike with the exception that I removed the Ergon grips and replaced them...

2022 Turbo Vado SL 5.0 EQ vs 2015 Turbo

I just purchased a brand new screaming yellow 2022 Turbo Vado SL EQ and in the process traded in my "ancient" original 2015 Turbo (the first one purchased at Goodale's in Nashua, NH). I now have about 500 miles on my Vado SL and would like to make a few comparisons with the 1st generation...

    2017 Turbo basic model

I ran 700x35s at 85 psi on my standard Turbo for the first 2 years. Rode HARD! I switched to 700x45s at 45 psi and the ride is much smoother. Addinmg a good sprung seatpost and dampened stem helped as well. Costs me maybe 1-2 mph at most.

    Big Specialized price increase

I guess this means I can keep my beautiful 2015 base model (200W) Turbo until I have either a battery or motor failure. It is in great repair, has the 691Wh Turbo S battery with bluetooth, upgraded brakes, Shimano Deore XT 11-spd (11-42), factory fender kit, Kinekt 2.1 seat post, and new...

Vado 3.0: Worn out cassette after 450 miles

Solution = new casette, new chain with 8 morelinks, upgrade to 48 tooth chain ring.

    Chain ring tooth selection

Going from 40->48 is not a wow factor, particularly. For most Como or Vado owners who have done this, it makes cruising above 20 mph (32 kph) up to 28 mph (45 kph) more sustainable, safer cadence, and less wear and tear on their equipment. Going in the other direction for a high power Vado or...

Serial #/model of the bike not the same as what Mission Control says -- how to fix?

Mission Control on the older Turbo models with the Turbo X or Turbo S batteries reports the serial numbers of the battery and the motor, not the bicycle. And there is no way to update the system with Mission Control. All of the "intelligence" is in the battery so that if you swap batteries, all...
