    nominal or peak output?

Thank you Ravi, I will go and check it out. The reason I want a throttle, is because I do go up a few big hills in B.C. Sometimes I need to stop half way up because the person in front of me has to stop, or we have to stop at a stop sign, etc. Then it is impossible to get my heavy bike going...

    Tune-up and regular maintenance

Thank you very much for all this information, indianajo! Much appreciated. But it is one thing to tell me what I need to do, it is another thing to learn how to do it. :-) Half of what you say is Greek to me. LOL Where can I learn how to look after my bike (have someone SHOW me what to...

    nominal or peak output?

Thank you Indianajo! The reason I did not like my bike, a DJ City Bike, is because it accelerated too fast in level one, and it kept kicking in and out. If I was riding with others that did not have an e-bike, I could only pedal one rotation, then the bike would shoot forward, then I stop...

    Tune-up and regular maintenance

Thank you Rich, yes I am asking about a dealer tune-up. How can I learn to to do all that you mentioned? -fasteners need to be checked, including pedals and crank bolts? How to clean and oil the chain? Are there bike maintenance classes that one can take?

    nominal or peak output?

Ravi, thank you! I plan on riding about 100 miles per week in winter, 25 in summer. Mostly flat riding with light trails. Light gravel. I am fit, 5'4" - 128lbs, and can ride a regular bike 30 miles, no problem. Don't need high speed. (Can only insure a bike in B.C. that goes max 20mph.)...

    Tune-up and regular maintenance

How often do I need to have a tune-up done? What other maintenance do I need to do? How often do I need to grease the chain? How often do I need to change tires, chain, brake pads etc.? I will be riding the bike about 100 miles per week during winter and 25 miles per week during Summer...

    nominal or peak output?

Am doing a lot of research, trying to find the best bike for me. Am returning the first e-bike I bought, because I did not like it. One of the guys that I rode with today told me to check on the nominal or peak output on a bike. I did a search on this site for "nominal or peak output" and also...

Which batteries recharge as you pedal?

Thank you, AguassissiM for that info, greatly appreciated. I will definitely not be looking for regeneration capability. I didn't really want it for myself, but I have many people asking me about it, so I wanted to know how to answer them. Thanks again! That is a nice bike that you have...

Which batteries recharge as you pedal?

Thank you Amy, those responses were most helpful! I have people asking me all kinds of questions about my bike, (the one I am returning) and a recharging battery is one asked often. Now I know how to answer them. I am learning so much here! :-) Now, if someone could just tell me which bike...

If I bought a degenerative battery, I guess my brain would be the same. LOL!!!

Which batteries recharge as you pedal?

chrisob, thank you very much! You have been very helpful. I guess the reason I couldn't find any info on it, is because I did not know the terminology was called "degenerative braking." So kind of you to find this info for me, thanks again!!! :-)

Hi, I have heard that some batteries recharge as you pedal? Or recharge as you are cruising downhill? Can't find any info on this. Any info appreciated, thanks in advance.

    PatchnRide

Thanks again, Rich. I believe I will be getting a hub motor. I don't want to have to change a tube, so will look into getting the Scwalbe tires you mention, anything to help diminish the possibility of a flat tire works for me!

    PatchnRide

Thank you Rich. I just saw a video on it and wondered if it was any good. I have never patched a tube and think it would be difficult on a 65 pound bike, but I am searching for videos and information on the easiest way to do it. If I take a class at REI on how to patch a tire on a regular...
