    Roadster V2 Gravel Edition

Imagine it’s dependent on the specific manufacturing tolerances of the battery and the holder, and flexing over time of the plastic. If I recall, didn’t immediately have the rattling problem, but was over the first few thousand miles. Settled on Velcro as the easy fix.

    Roadster V2 Gravel Edition

Same here. That’s why I got the EggRider aftermarket display (details in above post), with my final settings now PAS1 = 20 watts assist, PAS2=40, PAS3=100, PAS456789 = 150/200/250/300/350/500 watts Would be interesting to see if the new throttle display allows PAS # of levels adjustments.

    Roadster V2 Gravel Edition

Yeah, that was always a problem with my Roadster (2021). I even ordered non-polarized sunglasses online, just for biking. However after I got my EggRider display, my (awesome) experience here...

    Roadster V2 Gravel Edition

I use a Velcro strap, to stop an annoying rattle over bumps. Light and easy to take on and off. And having the bracket in the right orientation, helps keep things flush and maybe more secure?

Analog Single Speed Bike recommendations (<20 lbs)? SOLVED + REVIEW

Still trying to convince myself to get an analog SS. Did same ride with Roadster v2: 21 miles, 1400 ft elevation gain 1) bike stripped weight to ~35 lbs: motor off for all but ~1 mile, when grade over 8%: 14.0 mph, 2 wh per mile 2) bike fully loaded with tools, tubes, 64oz of water, extra food...

Analog Single Speed Bike recommendations (<20 lbs)? SOLVED + REVIEW

Can I find room in my garage for another bike, hmm ;) That State 6061 Black Label, or Undefeated, look really nice. About 17.5 or 16.5 lbs, but brakes might add about 1 lb. Spoke to a bike shop, and it looks like they are customizable (depending on the shop you get the bike from) for fixed gear...

Analog Single Speed Bike recommendations (<20 lbs)? SOLVED + REVIEW

OrTrek - That’s an excellent comparison, especially with my Roadster. Based on your experience, this might be do-able. Yes, I tweaked the Roadster PAS1 level to provide 20 watts assist. I bump that up to 100-150 watts assist when trying to keep up with the fast club riders going 20-25 mph, but...

Analog Single Speed Bike recommendations (<20 lbs)? SOLVED + REVIEW

Ha! I know, the hills might crush me. But, I love a challenge. And that’s why I want a very light bike, so I might have a chance.

Analog Single Speed Bike recommendations (<20 lbs)? SOLVED + REVIEW

Very detailed reply, thanks. Need to find a LBS that has any of these, since I’m really unsure on the gearing, and would like to see how it feels. I prefer belt drives, but as you mention having a chain will help with cog swaps. Figure it might take some experimenting, based on local hills. For...

Analog Single Speed Bike recommendations (<20 lbs)? SOLVED + REVIEW

After 1.5 years of happiness riding a single speed (SS) relatively lightweight e-bike (Ride1UP Roadster v2, -33 lbs before adding accessories), now looking at getting an analog SS. Have gotten a lot stronger riding the e-bike SS. Anyone with real-world experience or suggestions on what is out...

What's You're Plan For Major Breakdown?

Time for an IGH bike, and maybe with a Gates belt drive :)

Which electric bike to purchase in 2023? Please suggest.

If it was me, I would guess that’s it’s just a disc brake adjustment issue (if that has disc brakes). Squealing disc brakes are not uncommon, and may take some fiddling to get it to stop. Might be worth your time to do some research on your own, so you better understand how the brakes work (so...

    Throttle on Roadster

I have the throttle-less Roadster (got in 2021), but for my other e-bikes that have throttle, my technique is to simultaneously push the throttle while starting to pedal. Pretty much only used when starting from stopped, when trying to accelerate faster from a light or stop sign. Or when...

Which electric bike to purchase in 2023? Please suggest.

IF you are comfortable with doing minor maintenance and adjustments on your bike, then there are many good possibilities. Otherwise, I’d highly recommend you try, buy and get service from a local bike shop. You’d be setting yourself up for potential frustration and hassle, if you don’t have...

    Intermittent loss of power

I do a lot of climbing, and have gone up some really extreme grades, so have seen the problem with all three of my e-bikes (all different makes and models, 250, 350 and 500 watts peak power output). All depends on % grade, length of hill, duration and intensity of climbing, gearing, and specific...

    Intermittent loss of power

Another possibility is that it’s “voltage lag.” For all of my e-bikes (3 each different brands), if I’m under very heavy load and the battery has been drained a bit, I had the power cut out due to a voltage drop under load. This is a fairly “normal” thing, depending on the model, power output...

    The e-bike under exercising myth.

I keep my Strava private, so it doesn’t mess with the leaderboards. There’s an E-Bike category in Strava? Had no idea.

    The e-bike under exercising myth.

It’s great to have the choice of how much, or how little assist to use, when you have an e-bike. But you need to have the focus and discipline to get the training and exercise you want, and the right bike that allows you to do that. In my case, I modified my e-bike with a display/controller...
