Ebike won't move with throttle, just chatters and pulses

You no doubt have a phase failure, either in the motor or the controller (or connection between the two). I presume you've checked the connections to the controller and the motor?

Future Innovation, Where Are We Going

Trek, Specialized and R&M use "substandard" components? Maybe this is true of Rad, Lectric and a few others, but then again, their ebikes sell for less than high quality analog bikes! You get what you pay for....

Future Innovation, Where Are We Going

I thought we already had mid drives with gearboxes. Enviolo et al? Derailleurs and rear sprockets? Aren't the latter just an open form of gearing, an "open" gearbox? And a whole lot lighter and cheaper to make than a true gearbox.

2022 top 10 most bike-friendly cities in the world

You raise a good point about media these days, that most "news" is invented. I find it mentally healthy, when I see an article that's not really timely news, to ask why and how did this article get published. There's a whole army of PR professionals working to get "news" about their employers...

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

Ah yes, the quick pace of justice in the US. At least we're faster than India. Here it just takes years. There decades. (no offense meant to any south asian readers though...)

    Aurora Limited = = real-world Battery Range

Sounds like the ALE isn't very efficient? I have a Trek Allant+ 8s, 625 watt battery. My most common lunch ride is about 16 miles with lots of climbing, about 1500 feet. I use at most about 20% of the battery. OTOH, I probably average about 12 MPH (you don't want to go fast on a windy gravel...

A Teenager Hit Six Cyclists While Trying To Roll Coal And Was Not Arrested

One always wonders when formerly active members disappear. Allant? John Peck? Sad...

    Kryptonite ATPO

You're a victim of improvements in portable, battery operated grinders. No lock can withstand one for more than 30-60 seconds. So risk is up for those that offer guarantees, so more hoops.

    Ride the rim, Crater Lake

sounds like a great biking opportunity. Why not take the ebike? After all, you don't need to use power if you don't want to, but it's there if you need it.

Beware smartphone screen burn in using SmartphoneHub

"Most important" if all you want to know is the battery charge. No map. No speed. Have you actually LOOKED at that microscopic display, or are you just parroting Bosch? Would YOU actually ride with such a display? Didn't think so for either.

IGH Weight Difference - Kindernay VII and Enviolo Heavy Duty wheels with tires

Including labor to build up the wheel, this must have been one expensive upgrade. Ravi, what was the cost per pound saved? CDN is OK.

Beware smartphone screen burn in using SmartphoneHub

Except that the smartphone hub, uniquely, forces the user to USE a smartphone as the display. Do you know of any other bike display/computer that forces the user to use a smartphone as the display? We'll just have to disagree on this one. In fairness, I suspect Bosch would side with you...

Beware smartphone screen burn in using SmartphoneHub

I put about 800 hours on a Pixel 3 phone before I swapped out the smartphone hub for a Nyon (great move, BTW...). No burn in at all. LCD screens are not all alike, so I suspect the burn-in problem is not universal, but this is one more argument for using an older "beater" phone as your...

2022 top 10 most bike-friendly cities in the world

You do wonder how they do these rankings. San Francisco bike friendly? I guess it depends on how you like hills. Boston? I suspect the list authors have never driven a car in Boston, much less ridden a bike. It's not even car friendly...yes, lots of bike lanes along roads that are mostly...

Do you pedal or just ride full throttle? Now Closed

??? You can do that by changing the gear and/or changing the power level. Do it all the time when I'm riding. Maybe it's harder when you're just using a throttle, but on a bike without a throttle, it's trivially easy.

    Danube River E bike trip?

And did you have a third party handle logistics, like moving luggage, or did you carry everything yourself (or plan to?)

Loose chippings used on road repairs

The problem in some places, like here in NH, is not cost. It's impossible to build a road that won't have some frost heave humps in the spring. (OK, I guess interstate highways are built to a slightly higher standard?) All our local roads suffer, but we're used to it. At least the towns...

Loose chippings used on road repairs

It could be worse... My town repaved a stretch of road with wonderfully smooth asphalt. Two weeks later, they used chip seal on top! This is fresh tar sprayed on the road followed by fine gravel. We stumbled (rode, actually) on this later in the day they did it, and rode for about a mile with...

    Danube River E bike trip?

Where on the Danube? It's a pretty long river... Would love to hear more, though.
