    Beware Clean Air Zones Coming

Well, I don't know for you, but my instinct says stay with ICE for as long as you can. Life is difficult enough, and transport is too necessary. We all know there is going to be many problems for at least the next 20 years.

    Beware Clean Air Zones Coming

In the UK they are just beginning to roll out what are called Clean Air Zones (CAZ). The idea is that vehicles with older engines can only enter the CAZ if they pay. Naturally these CAZs are usually large urban areas and within the ring road. They are just popping up. You'll be driving along and...

    What is History to You?

Once again, yesterday, Thursday, like some obsessed Victorian scientist I found myself in an industrial museum, my mind connected with the ghosts of those of times gone. The museum was large, belonging to a large city, and me and the ball and chain saw not a soul throughout our whole time in...

    solar generator

Forget it. In winter you have no chance. For minimal stuff like led lights and tv for a bit you are OK in summer, but you have to have big batteries to buy, keep and maintain and replace. A lead acid battery may look and be big, but only the first 10%, maybe 20%, is usable.

    What is History to You?

For me, this thread, I'm finding, is overdue and doing me good deep in my spiritual psyche, something I need to understand and settle. An important stop on my voyage. These thoughts are not new to me, but they seem to be crystallising now as I begin to feel a settlement of the topic. I...

    What is History to You?

Yes, we're stood on the shoulders of what those before us put, bit by bit, into place. We are so rich with all that they created for us. It's staggering to take stock.

    What is History to You?

Yes, no respect at all, not a thought for those of the past who left a legacy. What was their struggle and toil for. We are better people when we hold a gratitude and a tip of the hat to those of the past. It grounds us. We are better people to remember those of the past with thanks in our...

    What is History to You?

The Cynics! Anyway, I've been thinking a bit more about what i was writing and i think i was driving at that history and all it throws up sort of takes you out of your daily ordinary as a stark reminder, and i think this holds you in a sort of conscious sate different to the daily ordinary of...

    What is History to You?

After reading the above posts, I find it a relief that other people have thoughts I can 'sit with' and which echo my own. These history thoughts reach out to touch on other aspects of my life. Take my working life, for instance. I left school into a recession of the 80s. I was too young to...

    What is History to You?

Yes. You wrote: 'the initial conditions made all the difference in what they became.'. I wonder a lot over that. I wonder if i went back in time 400 years, would I be the same person I am now? Or can I only exist as I am now in my present circumstances? If I went back in time and found myself in...

    What is History to You?

I have a constant deep interest in history. I don't just mean kings, queens, romans, I mean the ordinary little stuff like the table I am sat at which someone in the 1950s bought, or who laid the bricks in the wall I am sat next to. Are they still alive? Who were they? What were they like? That...

    Trust "The Science"

DavidRvR..... I weigh the same. I didn't like it then and not now. It's easy to say long covid this that and the other. Of course, taking it was a risk, and of course it was not fully tested, but it was tested. The thing is that there is no way governments would debilitate their population, just...

    Crap Stuff you Bought

I wanted a lightweight convenient grass trimmer just to trim the odd few blades of grass at the side of my path. I bought one, cordless, online for £20. I didn't expect much, but didn't need much. The motor was stopped by a single blade of grass.

Vaccine and me. I weighed a lot of things up and came to the conclusion that the vaccine was on the level because a)if they wanted they can do us anytime with better ways, and b) it made sense to just keep things going at their timeline, all in their own time, and this (the pandemic) was not to...

It is terrifying, truly, when that kind of cobblers is forced upon you. It's a blatant sham railroaded through. This is how it feels in the UK with many many things.
