    Shoes and pedals, I'm confused

So how exactly are the stock pedals on your bike making you upset and unfit for the urban cycling conditions you described?

Took a spill on my X3 (video)

Might be a good idea to put the phone away to keep both hands on the handlebar. I'm also seeing more and more cyclists ride without hands as they are texting. When I get really close to them, I ring my bike bell and funny to see them alarm and almost lose control of their pretty bike :D

Aventon Aventurer can't climb steep 6 mile dirt road

Going + on the levels don't make a difference because it's merely a shutoff for max velocity. All inexpensive "hub motor" ebikes aren't made for grades you described. Worse, the typical consumer with the "amazon/costco" mentality push their ebikes to limits until they break, then fail when...

    Shoes and pedals, I'm confused

Exactly. The many pedals I hoard are not for me, but for the installs I do for the buyers. Yet when some newbie insists on a kind of pedal just because of what they read somewhere online, I don't talk them out of it and just do what is easier, which is to take their money. Having road tested...

    Change Display on Chinese Ebike

This is what usually happens when one buys form mailorder and not from a LBS. You'd think they won't make that mistake again, but sadly low price trumps over common sense :)

Tips for loading heavy electric bikes onto car racks by yourself

The correct term is platform racks, and since the dawn of time, they have always been the norm for heavier bikes, that includes ebikes. Platform racks benefit all bikes regardless of weight by the time it takes it get one mounted and secured, takes seconds. There are platform racks that have...

    Tire & Tube question

Before you toss out that 5 minute old inner tube, fill your bathtub with cold water, and inspect where it is leaking. Sometimes all the rubber is good and it was a loose schrader valve that wasn't seated properly from the factory. Likewise, it will also reveal where you may have pinched and...

Heavy rider, very steep hills, not too expensive! Help please

There is nothing wrong with DIY, and DIY should be encouraged with proper confidence. But like all things in life, majority of DIY folks should not be DIY'ing, as they often learn that it was a most costliest mistake. Again, that generally applies to all things in life, not just ebikes.

    Shoes and pedals, I'm confused

I've never told the OP or others what to do. I understand in forums it may be common for strangers to tell others what they must do. I merely wrote what I choose to do and why. I would like to say now that you are wrong to assume of what I do know or what I may not know. I would invite you to...

    Shoes and pedals, I'm confused

Please re-read the OP again: Again, I gave my reasons why I use city pedals.

    Shoes and pedals, I'm confused

All my cycling is paved asphalt and urban park trails, so all my bikes have what you call city pedals, and I will pedal with whatever I am wearing on my feet at the time I decide to ride. I don't like wasting money.

    Harris Cyclery closes

I feel bad for anyone looking for any out-of-stock parts now. I sourced everything I wanted last year right after the pandemic summer. Hoarding bike parts feels somewhat justified when you know it's all gone out there.

    Affordable Mid Drive ($1500-ish?)

Interweb buyers are funny. They see an online price and assume it's just loyally waiting there, always available to be picked up :)

E-bikes under fire as fatalities climb in NYC

You know why dog owners in my town are always picking up any poop they always find? Because they don't want the municipal to pass down more stricter laws. When "electric powered thingies" become a problem, a city will do something about it, no matter how much safety bible you preach to them...

FLX Trail 5 import from USA to Canada.

Thank to god not at all. But I have visited folks in the ICU that have. Federal regulations are put there for a reason. If you think they are a "pain in the ass", then contact your MP to change them, not find loopholes to sneak in an illegal import and become a danger and a menace to others on...

    Anyone have Squeaky Crank?

This is a norm with almost all "vintage" style leather saddles, especially with steel coils instead of rubber dampeners. Everyone their own, riders actually like the sound.

Heavy rider, very steep hills, not too expensive! Help please

Spend as much as you can. The LBS will love you, and so with your country's economy :) As my nana always said, life is short, do everything with a bang :)
