    Hydra as a commuter?

At least I didn't post 'the collection'.... or the sharpeners.... or the ... ... o_O:cool::D

    Hydra as a commuter?

Have a few SpyderCo's here and there, but current EDC is a Benchmade Rift 950. Liked it so much I've got a second as backup... would be thrilled if they made a slightly smaller version, but it's fine including for clipping onto a pair of shorts' pocket even. Mine's quite a bit more beat-up...

    Hydra as a commuter?

Just seconding 'all of this' ^. Your wheels should not be continuously pinging. Absolutely a sign the wheels weren't de-stressed during or even after the build. There's all kinds of near-religious debate on the use of various spoke preps - from linseed oil, Loc-tite (blue), various others...

Worth the wait, Hydra is here.

The LudiV2 is a bespoke controller for Luna, not an off-the-shelf/pre-existing VESC controller. In reality, doesn't matter all that much, other than of course the layout of the board (i.e. the LudiV2 replaces the Bafang internal controller and fits inside the M600 motor case). The HW/sw...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

So - that sucks. Did you buy the part and install, send(ing?) the motor back to Luna, or ?

How fast is too fast for you?

I bet you'll never do THAT again though, right? :) Driving cars at track events I've seen car rotors literally glowing which have a LOT more heat dissipation capabilities (but heat up more due to mass of cars, of course), and people were routinely boiling DOT3 brake fluids, being heated up as...

    Show Us a Tool

Lol! Used (much smaller) 'scopes at my last job, not as primary job but occasionally as was working on combination hardware/software 'stuff.' The one I have is close to what I used in the military, but the (lol, NOT so light!) 'portable' model. Close to this one...

What is it? Looks like a scanner of some kind, but - guessing.. ? Not much hope on me 'reducing my tool collection.' My father was a carpenter so I both grew up building all kinds of things, and also worked doing remodeling and building houses for a bit early on, as well as working my way...

    Water Bottles

On bikes with a water bottle cage, and pretty much everywhere, I usually use a Hydroflask insulated bottle. My wife uses one (IIRC 18oz?) on her ebike, while I've shifted to using a Source brand bladder in a backpack. The insulated bottles keep things cold (or warm) for quite a while - I use...

How fast is too fast for you?

Eh, not really sure. MC rider here, and am not uncomfortable riding the X2 or the BBHSD at 30-something MPH...but having said that, I'm also not ignoring the fact I ride with fairly $ gear on the motorcycles, because, well - most cage drivers are truly scary and inattentive plus of course, s**t...

    Range phobia

Kind of/still - yes, but it varies to 'usually not' nowadays. @AHicks mentioned a 'starter bike' and I don't disagree, as there's a few things to get used to, not least of which is once the fun of riding around by throttle or max power wears off, you start to both sort out where your 'typical'...

What was the battery remaining at the end of the tailwind ride?

    Show Us a Tool

Not *quite* a tool, but .... my tools were badly overflowing (I also have another box not shown) and the market for used boxes is reasonably cheap, so picked up a SO KRL/masters series box used. A bit of surface rust starting, but it cleaned up pretty well - just wish it had a stainless top on...

Worth the wait, Hydra is here.

Yes, to a point. Technically you can still use 'full VESC' but I'm not sure all Luna changes have been merged back to mainline yet, some of which may be needed for e.g. for extended/new config params, etc. (I've used desktop VESC to re-flash firmware but then laid off it until all changes are...

    Ebike rack

Wasn’t bad, couple of hours, mostly a bit time consuming removing the bumper cover and bumper. Could probably do it ‘the second time’ in 90 mins or so.

    Ebike rack

True, or close enough…it does have a higher tongue weight capacity vs the other options though, 300# vs 200#, and as adding a truck to the stable is in my plans, I prefer the 2” hitch..

    Ebike rack

Not entirely true - we used this one on my wife's Mazda3. https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Hitch/Mazda/3/2017/306-X7305.html?VehicleID=201748258 And ironically, am considering upgrading to a 1up rack... with a Gazelle and a Luna X2.

    Luna X2 Impressions (Hydra Comparison)

Ironically, this is something many E10 DIY builders wind up disabling as it's another 'water sensitive' area - when it becomes wet, it can lead to 'clicking' as the switch and BMS cycle. Not an issue for dry locations or less technical riding, of course.

    Luna X2 Impressions (Hydra Comparison)

Same - I tried unsuccessfully to get an E10 or E22/23 frame. 'Can't sell to US' etc. I'm also super interested in taking an Orbea Rise for a spin, mainly as most of my riding is in low PAS. My X2 is lighter, but OMG on my prior BBHSD fat bike - I suspect the 70# weight is without battery. I...

    Luna X2 Impressions (Hydra Comparison)

Very cool you've got both on hand. No major disagreements there honestly. I'm assuming you didn't get the LudiV2 controller, or did you? A few comments below. Yeah, I think it's actually an NX, but I replaced it with a GX MMX shifter - is ok, $42 or so. Might be whatever you're used to, but...
