Experienced biker but new to e-bikes

My wife has a Gazelle Medeo T10 and we're quite happy with it overall. I disagree with Stefan's #s for range, as we have done 30 mile rides and still been at 50% on hers, although you should be aware the whole 'battery measurement' as well as range is kind of a mixed bag, meaning measurements...

    Show Us a Tool

That's sad to hear. It's been a long, slow slide but it's nearly impossible to keep track of which long-time tool manufacturers are still actually any good. Sadly this applies in power tools, garden/outdoor equipment and hand tools. Hell, there's basically even TWO 'Craftsman' at this...

Visited bike store, needed a shower

Definitely the individual store. It's not unusual for ANY bike store to want to upsell, to a point, but your experience was completely nuts. The local store here went out of their way to help me find a cheap but difficult-to-source-locally part (an internal spring for a rear DT Swiss rear hub)...

    SRAM Bar Clamp Help

You need to buy the whole clamp, which is kind of annoying and 'wasteful' but they're fairly cheap at least.

    2022 - Top 12 Bafang Ultra M620 Ebikes

The main 'benefit' here for most, I think, is their intent to not allow locked in licensing on this frame, avoiding the problems many in the US have on e.g. getting an E10 (Luna) or (forget it's designation, but it's a modified E22 with the diamond mount up front, otherwise an E22) - Monte Capro...

Talk me out of a Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Eagle 2

Sorry, where did you get the impression Biktrix makes their own frames? I'm 99% certain they don't. Juggernaut and others look like standard China frames like from Eunorau or their parent company and others. The Monte Capro is a modified E22 frame (now unique due to the front shock mount)...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

I came across this, a pretty good Current thread, when trying to sort WTH motor is being used. Thanks for whomever posted the vid, but yeah, seems to be a no-name-brand motor from someone, can't sort whom at this point. One post in here seems to indicate only ~22MPH on flat ground, which...

Talk me out of a Biktrix Juggernaut Ultra Eagle 2

Hmm. My driveway is crazy steep to the point of if it snows, no one's coming down it and neither of us are driving to work, period...my M600 and wife's Bosch Gazelle have no issues. What kind of grade is it and for how long? Am wondering if an M600 equipped bike might do it... Otherwise Luna...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

Interesting - there are only so many choices of motors out there. The comment about adding throttle makes it sound even more likely it's an M600... even if they 'claim it's our own special sauce,' very few bike sellers are real manufacturers, etc...mostly component assembly, especially on the...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

If by 'the owner' you mean the company selling the bike, yes...but M600s can not be 'end user' switched without a CANBUS programmer or the BESST tool, at least without an almost-nonexistent-except-for-Luna-LudiV2-controller/custom controller on the motor (not the display, actual controller...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

Yeah - at least to date, Specialized has indeed seemed to have done a stellar job around warrantees... probably baked into the $ and with their handful of (prior gen?) motor issues, but I've seen far more 'they did the right thing' stories compared to many others...basically, they seem to indeed...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

Stefan is very....particular, and not in the US. Don't concern yourself about it - they can indeed set the max speed limit on the M600 but it's not user settable. They expect you to know and adhere to local laws, whatever they may be, and probably wouldn't set it to the 28MPH max for EU/non-US...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

The Current looks like it also has an M600 Bafang motor. I'm almost betting their comment on 'can be set to class 3' means on order, you can have them use their dealer tool to do a one-time alteration of max speed limit. I don't think the owner can change this - again, there's nothing 'special'...

    Evelo, Gazelle, or Priority

My wife has a gazelle t10 Medeo which has been problem-free for a year+ now. Note there is a pretty big difference in battery/power consumption between the Bosch vs e.g. Bafang. Being used to Bafang behavior, initially I was never sure my wife's battery meter was even remotely working, as I...

Need EBike, Class III, Under $1600

Yo and lol - a 250W Bafang hub motor like dozens of other direct-from-AliExpress bikes. Nothing special or interesting here; no thanks.

    Hydra V2

Well, technically there's the WW/Bolton collaboration, while their site still says 'coming late 2022' - basically an E5 frame but with M600 and (maybe?) Innotrace controller.. ? https://www.area13ebikes.com/products/falcon but yeah, no Atom..

    Hydra V2

It is - it's in the product page bullet list. Guessing it's their way...

    Air compressor

Doh - the AL 'race jack' and a (wooden) workbench are among the only 'quality' HF buys I've had. It's surisingly difficult to find a quality jack nowadays... Bits and hand tools - completely agree. Sadly, with the Craftsman/Sears mess (there are kind of now two 'Craftsman' tools), Craftsman...

    Air compressor

I've occasionally bought HF for 'disposable' tools, or ones truly one to few time usage only. Things like a spackle/drywall hawk are tough to screw up, for example, and I have one of their orbital polishers I re-greased and use for car polishing/buffing. I have a couple of their 'wooden...

    Air compressor

The issue with smaller compressors is mostly down to the tank size - the motors aren't high powered enough to use pressure 'straight from the motor' so having a larger storage tank can help with things like seating beads and the like. Always let the compressor run, and set the pressure on the...
