    Electric Car thread

Went to the LA Auto Show and saw a bunch of cars (including the new Prius). Best things I saw were the Vinfast models (the biggest SUV, the VF-9 is pretty nice)... And the ID Buzz, they had the Euro version but it's really roomy... sort of like a smaller minivan. There was even a 67 EV:

About the new Prius plug-in... I used to be a PHEV proponent mainly from the range anxiety angle. But after about 4 years of owning a PHEV, I almost never used gas and the switch to EV was so much better. No gas/engine smell in the garage, no ICE maintenance... and quieter drive and one-pedal...

    Wing Freedom 2 or X ver 2?

Depends what battery size you want... cheapest Freedom 2 just less than $1k: The silver one looks nice (although I'd switch the seats and handlebars back to black):

I wouldn't underestimate the ICE legacies... Ford was able to turn around an EV truck in less time than Tesla and Rivian and the result is exactly what helped many buyers jump in... a EV that looked like the ICE truck people were used to. The Mach-E is also a "success". Mercedes has an...

    Wing Freedom 2 or X ver 2?

I still haven't bit, even with their perpetual $600 off sale. I really just want the silver one with the gray tires because it looks cool... just don't know if I can go back to non-hydraulic brakes.

    Sport model by Espin discontinued

I guess they never replaced the Sport. Mine seems like it's aging (the rear hub motor whines sometimes) but considering all it's been through... it was very much worth the purchase.

    Lectric XP spoke issue

I had this issue on my 2020 Espin Sport... but once I ordered a new set of spokes (2.3mm/13gauge) and had the wheel rebuilt (about $100) haven't had one since. They also threaded them differently per instructions from Espin ("the rear wheel is much more sturdy when all of the spoke heads are...

    XP 3.0

It's all the rage for middle school/high schoolers around here... riding those fast Super 73s paired up and without helmets... young and invincible.

EV good... ICE bad... next ICE age really bad. Is that correlation?

    XP 3.0

So I have to find a friend that weighs around 60lbs. :)

Has anyone gone from an e-bike with throttle to one without?

How are those mid-drives that have a throttle?

So if the rack is 150lb capacity... what's the total bike capacity? :)

About China... EVERYTHING is made there... not just EV batteries. So there is a lot more we need to stop buying from them if we are really worried about worker rights. But I digress... the new EV credits are based on North America material and assembly so we will see more domestic...

    Electric Car thread

I think that many people feel like EVs is just about "saving the environment". I think there are other aspects to EVs that are beneficial... it will reduce reliance on fossil fuels, it reduces noise pollution, it reduces maintenance costs, it saves people time, etc etc etc. And as many electric...

    The electric scooter (eScooter) thread

Well... then it really isn't a bike is it if you don't use the pedals? It's just a moped right? A buddy of mine has an Arial Rider but he has the one that's just foot posts... no pedals... so at least he's not perpetrating. :)

    The electric scooter (eScooter) thread

The only thing I have to say to this is why stand when you can sit? :) Although I do have a slight issue with people who ride their ebikes just on throttle... it's not that hard to pedal esp with assist. :( I used to have a non-e scooter and that thing was so tiring to kick push, I used it one...

    Electric Car thread

We like EVs because they are quiet and don't stink up the garage. Instant torque is great and not having to pay insane Cali gas prices is greater. It's just like how I prefer my ebike over my ICE (inferior cycling engine=my old knees) bike.

Do you still ride your analog bicycle?

Not really. It's still a pain to mount/dismount the heavy ebike on my rack to drive to our different rides but having peace of mind in case of a hill or those convenient throttle starts while stopped at a light make up for it. I'm still searching for a lighter ebike, but find solace in the...

Trying to figure out which ebike would work the best for me

Seconded. Start with the cheapest, good quality, good support ebike and then move on from there. You can even start with the XP 2.0 for $999 if you want gears but it's heavier.

New Pace 350 and 500 models

Batteries in the new Pace look like they are easy to remove too (similar to my current eBike). We have the Soltera, and that's removable but harder because it's undermount., I also use a separate headlight but it's nice to have the integrated ones just for bike visibility (not actually...
