    Drive Chains

Been talking with some of the local guys that do the mtb rentals. They use only Squirt dry lube on the chains & find it gets the best mileage in our dry conditions. So have done a wash & wax on both chains to get them started. They now stay clean as, & get a dose of Squirt after every second ride.

I think I'll put it on hold till next spring. With winter coming on the bike won't be getting a lot of use. By then there may be other options available. Preferably something that doesn't void the warranty.

Yes I may look into that now that you have found one that shows the correct speed. Tell me, are all the other readouts correct?

Hi Marcus What model did you get?

Sorry, should have said, I'm in New Zealand. Only ones available to me were European spec. Be good if was just a matter of re-programming. Although finding someone capable of doing it may be a challenge.

Thought I'd start a thread for those of you who want to discuss things Yamaha. I would like to know what would be involved in converting a European bike restricted to 25k, to the US restriction of 20mph or 32k. In particular what components would have to been changed, can they be sourced & the...

Help...Deciding on which dongle to buy..

Mine has the year on the bottom of the downtube, where it gets covered in gunk from the front wheel.

Not sure what bike you have, but I'd say your feet would be a blur at 30mph. My feet are going fast enough in top cog at 30k on the SDURO FullNine

Help...Deciding on which dongle to buy..

Thanks for keeping us up to speed on this. Sorry it didn't work out better for you. I think I'll pass on that one. Ideally we need the factory chip from the US bikes that have the higher limit.

I'm also watching this post with interest. My SDURO is restricted to 25k. I'd be happy with 30k as the top gear allows a comfortable cadence/rpm at that speed.

Nice. I see there is a gear position indicator. A feature missing from my SDURO FullNine.

Was just looking on the KMC website & saw this line under cleaning "Try to avoid a so-called ‘chain washing machine’ in combination with solvent. This will instantly ruin your chain" So what's the logic behind that?

Just spoke with my friend here with the earlier Haibike SDURO FullNine RC He replaced the original KMC chain around 3500k. Also the cassette. I was mistaken in post #16, he's still using the original single front drive. Bike has now done about 6500k.

Might be a while before I wear the first one out. Thanks for the link to the Finish line on Amazon, that's a good deal, I'll get some. Just spotted this as an alternative chain. http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-E-Bicycle-Chain-CN-E6090-10-ICNE609010138I/dp/B01A7E38IO

Looks like I'm stuck with the recommended KMC X10e chain. They have 136 links & I need 121 of them for the SDURO. The KMC X10.93 chains are too short. EddieJ yours must be shorter or do you join them? Quite a price difference though. If I was going through as many as you, I would just buy...

    Haibike SXDURO RX 29"

Having done about 700k on Yamaha SDURO I would have to disagree with, "Yamaha seems to lose power and assist if you reach higher pedal RPMs. I have found the opposite applies. Going up a hill you need 60 rpm or more to get the best out of it. I

I don't think I'd be all that keen either. Looks like you have mud guards too, suppose that would help a bit. That battery looks very similar to mine, how much juice is left after 35 miles of that. Back to chains, sounds like you have bought more than I have. The recommended one for the...

Wow, that's a good test for a bike. I imagine the rider would be as dirty as the bike.

Thanks for that info JR. Had a look through it. Yeah, gone through a few motor bike chains over the years. I've got one of those chain scrubbers & it certainly does clean then up nice. Havent actually had to do these new bikes, not enough dirt on them yet. So you recon they aren't pre-lubed in...

    Drive Chains

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but a quick search didn't bring up what I was looking for. I have recently bought two SDURO FullNine E-Bikes for my wife & I. I will get one new chain to keep on hand. Initially I will be washing the chains on the bikes when required. But eventually the...
