mid drives are not for everyone/throttles are fine

I might have to ride the front 9 in a cart as well. Very hilly and my knees aren't great for walking on uneven and steep slopes. Great for cycling though. Trying to get a meniscectomy in the COVID era is worse than trying to buy the perfect stock E-bike from a dealer 🤣.

My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01

I wish I had found this forum before I started my build, but as it turns out I can see how similar other builders' experiences have been to my own. My buiild started with a 10T GMAC hub motor. Initially I had a Specialized Curve frame but had to sell it when I found that the triangle between the...

mid drives are not for everyone/throttles are fine

Actually, I don't think you can pedal with a throttle, or if you do, it's only for stability. I used the throttle to get home simply because the PAS wasn't kicking in. But normally I wouldn't use the throttle and just set the PAS at level 2 or 3 (out of 10) and pedal like a normal bike. I also...

New helmet with front and rear cameras

I was actually looking at this LooKing DB-1 as a nice compact helmet camera. https://www.amazon.com/Skiing-Sport-Front-Action-Camcorder/dp/B07T898C32/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=looking+db-1&qid=1615422517&sr=8-1 It has a 2.5 hr battery life and can take up to 128 GB card. A helmet cam has a...

    Turn signals

That's a good idea, though you must be very religious and have a lot of faith that your wife isn't going to knock you off for the insurance money.:D These wing lights certainly seem to be bright enough at night. Not sure about the daytime. My fallback is still hand signals and wild gesticulations.

mid drives are not for everyone/throttles are fine

I can tell you one instance where a throttle is most useful. I have a GMAC rear hub motor and on my second ride, I was trying to get the PAS assist set up just right. I must have missed a step and didn't notice it at first, because I live at the top of a hill, but I didn't have any power assist...

    Turn signals

Motorcycles use a flashing yellow light when they turn. That's what these do. As long as you're using the right hand light to turn right, it's just a signal. If you use the left hand light to turn right, then Darwin's principles will soon remove you from the human gene pool.

New helmet with front and rear cameras

I've been thinking about mounting recording cameras front and rear, not so much for my own enjoyment as for my next of kin so they can launch a lawsuit and become insanely rich. I wish I'd seen this helmet before I went and ordered the new Lumos helmet with the flashing lights from Indiegogo.

Quick & Dirty Topeak Tetra Review

Trying to find a functional trunk bag is like trying to find a comfortable saddle. It's a lot of trial and error. I tried the Topeak MTX bag with their nifty clip on system. Nice bag, but it wouldn't even hold a pair of shoes (12 M), it was so small. After trying 3 or 4 different ones, I settled...

Bike powered Flashing lights - do they exist?

Take a look at these ones from Pinhead Locks... https://pinheadlocks.com/store/en/19-lights Just a tap with your little finger and they flash a bright yellow. They also turn off by themselves. They are rechargeable. Might be difficult to wire in to the battery since they fit into the ends of...

    Turn signals

I'm also getting the new Lumos helmet, whenever it gets shipped, but I found these handlebar lights from Pinhead Locks. https://pinheadlocks.com/store/en/19-lights You just press on the buttons on the ends to turn them on. When you go to turn just tap the button with your little finger and it...

List your experience with Tannus Armour

I put these inserts in to 29x2.3 tires and I run them at about 20 psi. I've never considered rolling resistance, since the motor overcomes all that stuff. Mind you, I've got a GMAC hub motor that is a true 750 watts, so I have a lot of power. One thing to be aware of though, the installation...

Bottle Mount Accessories That Aren't Bottle Holders

I didn't have room for a water bottle on the frame because my battery is too big. I found this neat little handlebar holder that is a lot more convenient because you don't have to bend over to get the bottle. I'm an old guy and my balance isn't all that great.

    Addding lights

I have the SPL-01 light from Grin and it's a fantastic light. I especially like the 40 LED's as a daytime running light. When I ordered mine, Grin was out of stock, so I got it from Hilleater.ca. It was a bit more $, but now it's in hand and installed. They have a nice mounting system that uses...

Nearly finished a custom GMAC DIY

Being able to post on a forum is the fun part of this build, so i tend to get a bit excited about it. I'll try to observe better grammar and structure in future posts.😊

Nearly finished a custom GMAC DIY

Building a custom Ebike is not a trivial pursuit, but with COVID, what else can you spend your money on? This is my travel budget, cuz I can't go to Spain. It's also been a lot of fun, except for the day I fried my cell phone, when I discovered that not all bike USB adapters are created equal.

Nearly finished a custom GMAC DIY

This Ebike has been my COVID-19 mental health project and it proves that I am now certifiable, but who cares, it's almost done. I've been following Linklemming's build and I didn't go for a custom frame. I had traded an indoor trainer to my son in law for a Specialized Curve bike and then found...
