The Saga of my Vado 5.0 IGH

Agreed, I think I'd prefer the refund at this point swap to another bike. If the new one breaks next year, I'm pushing that way first thing. They said they could get me another color now, but I told them I want my bike as configured or a refund. Again, my wife's hasn't had any issues, so I think...

The Saga of my Vado 5.0 IGH

Holy cow, Specialized has been a dumpster fire. After the shop put my hub in and set it was ready, we checked it on pickup but the hub computer and main computer wouldn't communicate. The hub didn't report speed or shift (although it was mechanically sound finally). So they made the shop get a...

    My perfect Vado 5.0 IGH

I had that (I think) from the sound of it. How many miles on yours? Mine started at 200 miles or so. They replaced my motor, but I still go slippage above 24 MPH. So they said that's just where this one tops out with the stock chainring + sprocket setup.... until my hub locked up. They have...

The Saga of my Vado 5.0 IGH

My LBS is closed on Sunday, and they only do builds/maintenance Mon/Tues (closed to the public) so I called Rider Care back today to check on my warranty claim. My new rear wheel assembly (tire/wheel/hub) is coming as a drop in replacement on Friday (already shipped). So hopefully soon will have...

Vado 5.0 owners: what are you using for a lock?

Light. No. It’s listed at 1.9 kg but it feels heavier. Well built, yes. But for an ebike with panniers or a trunk bag, the weight is pretty inconsequential.

Vado 5.0 owners: what are you using for a lock?

I have an Abus 5750L frame lock with chain and a Hiplok D1000. I also don’t leave it out of sight for longer than a few minutes.

Specialized Vado 5.0 IGH Cadence Survey

This. In my limited experience before mine acted up, it’s possible at slightly above 80 cadence. With mine broken, maybe Enviolo shipped some shotty hubs from supply chain issues during COVID.

The Saga of my Vado 5.0 IGH

It was unevenness in pedal cadence I could feel. Very noticeable not the same resistance on each pedal stroke. It’s covered, but I think since they already “fixed” something they’ve been thinking I’m being difficult as opposed to you didn’t fix the right thing. It’s definitely covered. They’re...

The Saga of my Vado 5.0 IGH

Mine was sometimes as well. I think it was them playing games. My LBS is less than thrilled with them right now as well. Class 3 isn’t false advertising though. You read 28. It actually says UP TO 28. Should it match the chain drive but be more convenient. Yes. But not false advertising. Poor...

2022 Vado 5.0 IGH speed issue

I have a long post on it but the IGH almost assuredly had something inside fail

I’ve had the same but it ended up dying on me today.

Turbo Vado 5.0: how to set proper preload on seat post? How does performance compare to Kinect?

There is a preload you should adjust. But it doesn’t require you to remove the seatpost to do it. Best way to do it (if I remember correctly) is to have someone else adjust it while you sit on it (getting on and off repeatedly between adjustments). It’s set right when you sit on the saddle, but...

Turbo Vado 5.0: how to set proper preload on seat post? How does performance compare to Kinect?

That style is very trial and error. As are most adjustable ones. I’m assuming there isn’t as much relief as a high end post. I took mine off and threw my Kinekt 2.1 on immediately. I had it on my old bike that I sold so I kept that post and put the original on the one I sold. So can’t comment on...

The Saga of my Vado 5.0 IGH

Wow. Been busy a lot this summer but have quite the story to share. So my Vado 5.0 IGH was purchased in April of this year from Specialized (and a matching one for my wife). No issues on her bike, but on mine, I started to notice slipping sensation at high speeds after ~200 miles. By 800 miles...

    Ok, I get it now...

Honestly I have no idea how it calculates them. But I will say it isn’t exactly easy pedaling a 60lb bike even on Eco. Shows around 15/mile on the TCD now that I found the menu for it.

    Ok, I get it now...

Just going off my Apple Watch. Example ride 2084 Cal for 47.13. Little over a 3 he ride. kcal should be the same as Cal in the US if I’m not mistaken. I’m probably screwing something up somewhere.

    Ok, I get it now...

How much do you burn on the SL? I get around 44 kcal/mi on my 5.0 IGH.

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

That’s it. There’s another way in Mission Control to do it as well.

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

The version built into the 5.0 can easily be silenced using the handlebar remote while riding. I turn mine on when I’m on road and off once I hit bike path so it’s not annoying me when I don’t need it. Super simple to do.

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

Interesting morning. My LBS hosted a community ride this morning. About 8 folks showed up. Brought my daughter along on her Weehoo trailer. About 3 miles from the end, my pedal fell off. I use the aluminum flats with pins from Specialized on some 21 mm extenders. I noticed the pins didn’t feel...
