why do folks want a higher watt motor?

Any restrictions put on ebikes will not relate at all to what we do when we ride, and have everything to do with what people talk about, just like all politics. My point is, you cannot prevent restrictions by riding in a sane manner, unfortunately. However I think that riding in an insane manner...

Am I missing something, or has Court not tested a product from this company since 2014?

    Riding skills needed?

Roads: remember that every driveway or other access point is an intersection, not just where roads meet. Lanes: if you're in a bike lane on the street just remember it's only a painted line and the driver who is looking at their cell phone will not be stopped from running you over. Paths: on...

    Bloomberg article ebikes

I apologize for the double post. My only comment was going to be that, yes those same paths and trails are available to e-bikes, but woefully inadequate in most areas here in the U.S. Too often we have to share the road with cagers and that is definitely not safe.

Questions on how to care for an Ebike

Answers (my opinion only) 1. Yes, running battery all the way out is damaging but the management system probably will prevent you from doing that. Good idea not to run it out anyway though. 2. Yes, probably no reason to top it off after a short ride like one of one mile. 3. For ideal...

According to Izip support, they stuck with the 2015 configuration for 2016. Are you sure your answer is definitively correct? They admit their website is incorrect....

    eBike future support?

+1 Good analysis. If you buy now, you're buying for just a couple years, then toss in the trash, or sell for pennies on the dollar. Upgrades in motors, batteries, and marketing will rapidly turn today's e-bikes dinosaurs. Meanwhile, DIY will remain a fringe hobby, as it is now, and producing...

New to this - asking for help!

I agree with Ann that an obsolete bike like you're testing is not worth a fraction of $1,500. But be wary of the philosophy of dealing with a local e-bike shop to get support, because when they go under, you are simply are paying top dollar for nothing. I suggest you find a local bike shop, a...

In a word, "no". It is a good bike, but I think you can do better both in price and utility. I vote for the advice of @JoePah above.

why do folks want a higher watt motor?

I tend to think the majority of the mountain bike community is opposed to every ebike, high speed or not. On their websites they refer to ebike as "motorcycles" and say that's how they need to be categorized. No one is looking at whether it's a speed pedelec or has a throttle, if it has a...

why do folks want a higher watt motor?

30 mph is terrifyingly fast to some, and slow to others. We're all different. As @EddieJ points out, more power isn't so important on a mountain bike (although I prefer plenty of torque) but power can actually be a safety plus on the street. Please don't worry about what will happen if I crash...

    Wave Electric Bike

Website Digital Trends list the Wave as the top ebike made over Strommer, Pedego, Easy Motion, etc... I had to laugh when I read that ... remind me not to get any advice from that website!

Low key ebikes (ebikes that don't look like ebikes)

Add Pedego Ridge Rider to the list. I think in the next year or two, batteries integrated in the down tube will be the norm.

Pedego breaks new ground with its Ridge Rider

Stromer, a longer service history? Is that the same as "needs more repairs"? Pedego has a pretty good reputation for service.

    A 'real' flat-resistant tire?

I've used both the Marathon Plus and the Big Apple Plus with no flats yet. I think they are very reliable tires and I hate changing flats, so I don't say that lightly. There is truth in their slogan , because: by "flat-less", they mean "less flats" not "no flats" (hence the hyphen). Still, a...

Court's Bosch vs. Yamaha Mid-Drive Comparisons

Nice! As I recall you were very decisive, buying it almost immediately. Looks good! Makes me a little sad when people say they can't get a Bosch for under $3,000. Retail is so high.

Other Easy Motion bikes also have a stealthy look, especially the Evo line, such as: Jet Cross 27.5 Eco Lite Check out reviews: https://electricbikereview.com/category/easy-motion/

    Bosch ebike system reliability

Bosch is still the most reliable ebike system on the planet - see the original post. Also watch this interview with Court's uncle - apparently it goes through chains about every 800 miles for him, which is not a negative of Bosch, and actually speaks to the power of the system.
