Should bikes with the Bosch 500wh battery and motor have the same approximate range?

It was actually a little more conservative than what I've experienced but a good tool for planning.

    made in usa?

There's a bunch of American companies but all made in the USA? I don't think so.

NYC amending existing rule to allow pedal-assist bikes

Wow that's fantastic! Any idea on the language on what they are allowing?

    Hill climbing ability

I think if you like to tinker and customize and are not going to expect the bike to act like a traditional mtb on natural surface features (rock gardens, downhill, logs) then you might be better with the DIY kits. For me - I'm riding like a mtb on mtb trails with support from my local bike shop...

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

You lose the speed pedelec class so top assist is 19 mph.

Again, the output between active line and CX are the same even though it is different motors. I ride a CX with the Trek Powerfly 8. 250 watt is a cut off in some places for being labelled a bicycle. The bafang motors you're listing are not classified as "bicycles" they would be mopeds. In most...

I was talking about the Bosch active line and the CX.

    Hill climbing ability

I've got some videos in the Type - Mountain/Trail forum if you want to see how the Trek Powerfly with the Bosch motor rides on singletrack. I generally have it in tour mode.

    Hill climbing ability

I won't be riding a Bafang, there's no local support, very few integrated solutions and in general would go with German over Chinese. I chuckle because my Emtb has pretty much the same motor specs and I ride in Tour mostly as Emtb or Turbo mode is ridiculous.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

Grats on New Bike Day! Mind giving a review after you've ridden it a bit? Always nice to hear in someone's own words what its like.

    Trek Super Commuter 7 - $3599

I like the Specialized bikes but support does not seem to be anywhere near as good and they kind of left their customers down by not supporting the earlier versions of the Vado. I just saw Trek released another ebike the Verve starting at 2K. I have a feeling by 2019 the ebike market is going...

Bikes and pricing expectations - the initial shock

I happily spent 1500 on my kids bikes knowing that they have a great platform to go ride. They NEVER rode their wal mart bikes but they do ride their full suspension bikes. I also didn't bat an eye at 5k for my ebike. I knew it was going to change my life. People criticize me even those who had...

    No motorized vehicles allowed

I'm only interested in singletracks. I love my Class I pedelec and don't need more than 20 mph for the trails. I just hate to see rules banning these bikes as they aren't fastest out there, they don't cause more damage - wtf..

    No motorized vehicles allowed

If they don't allow them now, they will soon. It's not if - it's when.

    Using a Powerfully 5 for Commuting & Touring & some off-road

Police model is nice. Thought that guy posted saying Trek didn't have them (XM 700)?

    Using a Powerfully 5 for Commuting & Touring & some off-road

I always liked the XM700 and there are still some models in the Raleigh area in stores. I like the Commuter and the crossfit too. I'm waiting to see what models are going to be for 2019.
