    New Vados, Comos, and TERA!

Stefan, I agree with you completely and used the same logic in April when I decided to grab a brand new 2019 Vado 3 rather than wait for a new 2021 Vado 3. The 2019 has the old Blok display, but it also has the more powerful motor, better shifter, 10 speeds instead of 9, better brakes, and...

    Battery short turbo Vado 3.0

Is it a replacement 460wh battery or did you get the 604wh battery? It was nice of them to work with you on the replacement, but if you got the 604wh battery for $500 you got a really great deal.

    Specialized Vado 4.0 - Beware

Last Saturday morning was my first fall. I was in some deep gravel and going very slow, thankfully, but maybe that was part of the problem. My front tire washed out to the right and I went straight to the ground. No harm to the bike, but my left ribs landed on my left arm and they still hurt...

    New Vados, Comos, and TERA!

Dave I think the answer to your question is the Como is generally considered the more comfortable ride, certainly up through the 2021 model year. The new 2022 Vado vs. Como may be different, but because they are so new nobody here has had a chance to try them and compare them. Speaking for...

    New Vados, Comos, and TERA!

I believe Stefan is right and that the new Vado 4.0 will be the best combination of features and value for the money. Personally, I am excited to see these new bikes and I think IGH and belt drive technology is the future. That said, however, I only just bought my Vado 3.0 and it works great...

Odd..Mike's Bikes had orders cancelled by Specialized ???

Speaking only in general terms, my expectation is that if Specialized (and the many others who are predicting a significant increase in demand for e-bikes over the next 10 years) are right, we should expect to see many, although certainly not all, mom and pop bike shops disappear. This will be...

Odd..Mike's Bikes had orders cancelled by Specialized ???

Thanks for sharing that. It is a good reminder for all of us that there are, almost always, two sides to every story. I got a chuckle out of Mike's Bikes referring to their new owners as "a family owned company". That is like referring to Putin as the "President" of Russia. Technically true...

    Pedal Input Turbo Vado 4.0

At 38 teeth you are now very close to the 40 teeth my 2019 Vado 3.0 came with. Even though the 3.0 does not have quite the torque your 5.0 has, it should still be a decent climber. I have a little over 200 miles on it now, but these are all around town on the weekend miles and I feel like I am...

    Ebikes….Cheating?

I basically do the very same thing as there are no real hills where I live in California's central valley. It might as well be the Midwest unless you go up in to the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. I generally ride my Vado in Eco and only step up to Sport to cross a busy highway, which I often...

    Ebikes….Cheating?

No, it's not a myth, and my brother-in-law can prove it. Today, he is 69 years old, but 40 years ago he was a career officer in the US Marine Corps commanding a field artillery battery, and he was very, very active. Not only did he do a full PT regimen with his Marines to ensure everyone in...

Abus Granit Xplus 540 U-lock experiences?

I have one (the ABUS 5950) and, while I would never trust it to protect my bike for more than a minute or two, it was an easy install and works great. I ordered it, the chain that attaches to it, and the ABUS 6000 folding alarm lock, both also keyed to my battery key, to make up my security...

    Tour de “e” France

This is something I had never considered, but it is an interesting concept. And, it seems to me that to flatly state that it will never happen is the same as saying the world is flat or that man will never fly. The reality is that we don't know what we don't know and new technology can (and...

    Pannier for Vado

I would like to find a set of Racktime Mia panniers in gray for my Vado so I could use it for trips to the grocery store. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be sold out of the Mia panniers, so that idea is on hold for a while.

    Turbo Vado 3.0 2018

Janet, I can only answer your first question and that is that it is OK to remove the battery to charge it. I suppose over a long period of time you will experience some wear frequently taking the battery in and out, but the battery was designed to be charged either on or off the bike so it...

Importance of buying from a local bike shop

I agree that this is very poor service and my personal opinion is the pandemic isn't really a legitimate excuse, it is just bad business. I am sorry for your bad experience and the hassle of having to make multiple long trips back and forth to try to get it taken care of. Speaking as someone...

    Grinding noise whilst rotating peddles

Wow. I am sorry to hear that. Did they give you any indication of what the cause might be? If there is anything we can do to prevent it, it would be good to know. I hope they can get you a new motor quickly.

Same ride, 21 times, on my Creo

Stefan, the scenery on this ride is world class, so that helps stave off the boredom. It is a good workout, too. As I build up my own endurance, this is something I would like to try. ;)

Specialized Turbo Vado/Como/Tero/Tero X User Club

I look forward to hearing all about it when you return. It sounds like a great trip and I would like to be able to do something like that. Due to COVID I did not take any real vacation last year, so I am very much looking forward to one!

No spare batteries, end of line for Turbo Vado?

As I get in better shape and am able to tackle longer rides I can see where I, too, will be a candidate for the biggest battery. I generally ride in Eco with a boost to Sport only when I want to cross a busy highway, and then back down to Eco. However, my Vado 3.0 has the small 460WH battery...

Loose Motor on Como 2.0 UPDATE: Cracked Frame (Vados too)

Bummer. I am sorry to hear you are not happy, but I do understand. I purposely looked for a 2019 model because of the down-tuning of the motor, the reduction from 10 to 9 speeds, and the lower quality brakes. :(
